Corked, caged and waxed bottle that was brewed on 12/14/07 and bottled on 2/1/08. This rating took place at patrick767’s Fort Wayne Locals tasting. Small beige head with good retention, no visible carbonation, opaque, fair amount of lacing, and a dark brown hue. The aroma was roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, some alcohol, and hops. The flavor was alcohol, malt, chocolate, mildly hoppy, and finishes somewhat dry. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied. Somewhat lacking in the flavor given the style IMO; however, worthy of a try.

Sample at J Gumbos Aug 2008 Indy tasting - 07/08 version - Aroma is vanilla and roasted chocolate malts with some brown sugar. Flavor is sweet, dry chocolate, vanilla and a touch of fruit. Palate is very clean and thin for an imperial stout. Alcohol is well hidden. Tasty but maybe a little too thin and sweet.

bottle at Ft Wayne locals tasting - Pours very dark brown with a big light tan head. The aroma is very light for the style with some roast malt and maybe some fruit in there. The chocolate roast malt flavor is moderately hopped. This brew is medium bodied and very drinkable. I wouldn’t have guessed the ABV is that high. It’s interesting, but give me a big, bold imperial stout or baltic porter instead.

Courtesy of after4ever. Pours deep dark amber with thin mocha head. The aroma is musty dark fruity esters and black licorice. Soon, after a bit of warming perhaps, a velvety dark chocolate note rises up mingling with a faint earthy – tobacco – smoke note. The taste is smooth and near silky. It starts with a mixture of chocolate, prunes, dates, plums, more chocolate and nuttiness. By midway the sweetness grows as a velvety dark chocolate note joins in and carries to the finish. As the finish approaches the earthiness tobacco smoke wells up just to the surface bringing the experience to a close. YUM!!

750 ml bottle. a dark brown, nearly black beer with a quite small and fast disappearing light brown head. The aroma is peculiar for the style, with lots of berries and dark fruits, more present than chocolate. There are also notes of licorice, green hops and alcohol, this last maybe too much present in a however good nose. The flavour is very sweet and again very strange for an imperial stout: very sugary, lighty roasty and with light chocolate. Again some licorice. Medium to full body, average/lively carbonation, quite long finish with medium bitterness, coming more from the hops than the roasted malts. not much an imperial stout, but a decent and above the average beer.

Dark brown beer with a fluffy light brown head. Light nose that originally reminded me of ginger ale, with some grainy hints. This is an easy drinking stout for an imperial. Some roasted grain, toffee sweetness, some green grassy hops and more alcohol in the flavor than even the 10.7% would indicate. Thanks to thedm for sharing this bottle.

(Bottle) Pours dark brown with a light yellowish brown head. The aroma is medium fruity and light spicy with tones of black berries, blueberries, applesauce, white pepper, vanilla, mint and anise/liquorice. There are also some light roasted malt and hops in the background with notes of dark caramel, brown sugar, milk chocolate, nuts, cookies, forest, grass and herbs. Just a whisper of almond paste. The flavour starts quite sweet with some roasted malt, blackberries and liquorice. Continues with a grassy/light herbal hop bitterness. Dry finish. Ester-ish fruity and light spicy. The mouthfeel is velvety soft and smooth with a medium carbonation. The aftertaste brings notes of lingering resiny and grassy hop bitterness alongside some light roast. Medium bodied. A very fruity IMP.
