Theis (3617), Denmark Aug 20, 2008 Bottle at home - shared with Mette. Black - light brown head. Coffee, dryness, lactose, tobacco, plastic, yeasty, vegetables, berries, licorice, dark bread. I gets better 30 minutes after pouring..... but it still have this strange plastic and yeast taste. goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Aug 18, 2008 RBSG ’08: Poured a light amber color with a beige head. The aroma and flavor were kind of dull to me with the biggest thing to stand out just being a mild roast. omhper (12153), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 17, 2008 Bottled at Ølbaren, Copenhagen Transparently black, brief head. Unusual aroma of dusty strawberries and tobacco. There’s sweet malt and somelight coffee. Surprisningly slim with lots of ester. Gets more comlicated as it goes: salty chocolate with candied strawberry and bubblegum. Finishes with salty licorice. Interesting, but complicated. Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Aug 14, 2008 from crackedkettle.com - dark black colour with a poor head retention; perfumy nose, malt and yeast with chocolate in the background; oily and sticky, verybitter, some astringence; very long chocolatey and bitter finish - powerful but lacking a bit of balance MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA Aug 11, 2008 brewed 12-14-07; bottled 2-4-08 batch 524.
dark mahogany nearly opaque pour w/ a thick tan well laced head. Very hoppy aroma definite saz. Some light almost black liquorice notes coming through and light chocolates, pretty mellow. Good fluffy full pal, well coated and lightly creamy. Flavor is nice.. mostly saaz hops over a light chocolate and a bit of a burnt coffee taste quite roasty, doesn’t seem that big.. has a warm swallow. Pretty good stuff. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA Aug 10, 2008 Courtesy someone at tasting @ Gumby’s house. Odd herbal aroma, light roast, an odd chocolate-like note in the background. Sweet taste, but again a sort of odd charcoal-like character comes through. Maybe some anise notes also. Kinda weird, and not entirely my thing. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA Aug 5, 2008 Bottle sampled at RBSG ’08. Pours with a reddish-brown body topped by a thick, off-white head with a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty with very slight roasty notes and a little chocolate. Not really an imperial stout in my opinion. Medium, smooth, and slightly dry. DaSilky1 (1932), San Diego, California, USA Aug 5, 2008 a brown beer. a tan head. a sweet and hoppy nose. a sweet flavor with licorice, caramel, and tending to be on the nutty side. Smooth mouthfeel. Unremarkable however.
