Aug 10, 2008 Courtesy someone at tasting @ Gumby’s house. Odd herbal aroma, light roast, an odd chocolate-like note in the background. Sweet taste, but again a sort of odd charcoal-like character comes through. Maybe some anise notes also. Kinda weird, and not entirely my thing.

Aug 5, 2008 Bottle sampled at RBSG ’08. Pours with a reddish-brown body topped by a thick, off-white head with a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty with very slight roasty notes and a little chocolate. Not really an imperial stout in my opinion. Medium, smooth, and slightly dry.

Aug 5, 2008 a brown beer. a tan head. a sweet and hoppy nose. a sweet flavor with licorice, caramel, and tending to be on the nutty side. Smooth mouthfeel. Unremarkable however.

Jul 30, 2008 Courtesy hopscotch. Pours a reddish brown and slightly watery. Aroma is malty and with a candy like like sweetness. Taste is caramel, sweet malt and a slight bourbon bite. Slightly thin, did not think this was very well balanced.

Jul 28, 2008 750 ml bottle. #406. Pours a very dark muddy brown with a medium sized beige head. Aroma of vanilla, figs, prunes and fudge. Taste of figs, prunes, tootsie rolls, grains, and vanilla fudge. Way overpriced.

Jul 26, 2008 Tasty. Lots of oak and grain in the aroma. More oak in the flavor, with a grain flavor. It is quite dry. Nice smoke, a touch of sugar, and vanilla. No carbonation, which is fine in an English style imperial stout. Very smooth palate and from a full bodied, throat coating beer.

Jul 26, 2008 First of all: Why on earth is there a wax seal on my beer?! It’s irritating to clean it all off before opening the bottle - and in the end you still risk having left overs in your glass. Well, nevermind. The beer is black with a grey head and has a nice aroma of spice, yeast and liqourice. The flavours are chocolate-like with some alhohol, roasted bread and caramel. It’s good but also a bit young and unbalanced. I reckon it will improve with age.
