4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Wolfbass (587) - Firenze, ITALY - JAN 8, 2011
Questa è un imperial stout che a me fa impazzire ( adoro lo stile), splendido colore. Aromi meravigliosi, tra malto, madeira e frutta con corpo liquoroso, vinoso, caldo, avvolgente. Splendidaaaaa!!
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Alphadelic (1470) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 7, 2011
On tap at Armsby Abbey - Big rum and raisin, light kowtowing (edit: this is an iPhone auto-correct, I have no idea what I intended to write). Darkest chocolate bitterness. Deep and rich.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Verecund (80) - North Carolina, USA - DEC 29, 2010
Notes from 09/2008.
Shared with a good friend, his first RIS.
Beautiful, personalized label. Bottle #403 of 524. 2008.
If purple were black, this would be it. Dark, with medium off-white head. Red hues come through in the warming.
Dark fruit: raisins, cherry, prunes. Resembles a darker sherry. Dark malts, but also something sweet.
Bing cherries and other dark fruits, especially as it warms. It’s a bit boozy, especially as the taste escapes out the nose, but it isn’t unbalanced. Belgian candied sugar. Dark, sweet, mildly tart. Wonderfully balanced, in my opinion, though the taste is not that of a typical imperial stout.
Great carbonation. I honestly think the mouthfeel is excellent for the integrity of this particular beer, though some might be disappointed that it isn’t thicker. Creamy, but a bit light, though that fits the flavor profile.
I like this a lot. I deducted for price, especially for the style. It is mostly sweet, dark malts and wonderful fruit, but it is less oaky and less chocolate than most high-caliber imperial stouts. I would recommend this for those who enjoy dark-fruit based stouts and quads, but perhaps not for those anticipating the perfect RIS.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 tkrjukoff (2676) - SWEDEN - DEC 28, 2010
Pours dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma of fidges, dades, malts, sweet madeira; more like barley wine than imperial. Fullbodied alcoholic and fruity mouthfeel. Flavor is chocolate, dark fruits, fruity and roasted malts. Very nice. Finish is a bit thin, sweet tart hoppy.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 kerolasa (377) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - DEC 25, 2010
Bottled May 11, 2010 bottle 654. One of my big all time favourites. Pitch black and good head. To my taste perfect stout. A lot of aromas and sweet enough, but not too much.

Draft at Rattle n Hum. Pours near black with a beige head. Roasty aroma with some dark fruity sweetness and a boozy hint. Rich flavor with chocolate, tobacco, roasted malts, some smokey notes, and dark fruits. Pretty delicious.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 BREWMUSKCLES (1688) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 20, 2010
spicey, live and vibrant with poison ivy and fresh hop enlivened into an otherwise old brew. cheesy molded barley with none of the offense, so busy with flavors wafting in and out... you pick yours as they evade your palate. Highly demonstrative warm and interesting in it’s self. What better can i say then a BEER DRINKERS diversion. Sweet tight finish.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Holy (701) - GERMANY - DEC 17, 2010
Bottle #495/697. Interesting fruity flavor behind a hoppy front. Not what I would call an imperial stout, but very solid none the less.
