This corked and caged bottled brew#164 bottled on 2/1/08 and brewed on 12/14/07 from a rating party at patrick’s poured a medium sized head of finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were and left behind a opaque no visible carbonation black colored body and a very good lacing. The aroma was dark malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt mild hops and dark malt. A decent one that I would consider having again.

Hey, I really like this beer and this brewery. Pours not quite black with a light brown head. Aroma of black walnuts - dark fruits - mince - some brandied chocolate; also caramel, raisins and rum. This beer certainly reminds one of a very good Barley Wine, the fruity sweet complexity held togeter with strong malts. The finish is long and rummy. did I say it has chunks?

Bottle. Much more pleasant than their Winterbock. This was bottle number 925 brewed on 13/14 Feb 2009. Black and very powerful pouring very flat. Low carbonation and left no lacing.Traces of liquorice and chocolate. Very powerful and almost wine like. Impressive,

Draught at the brewey, smallish creamy head, dark quite opaque black with a streak of ruby red, aroma of medium roasted coffee, peanuts, hay and barnyard, and hints of earth and soy sauce. Flavours of espresso coffee, dark chocolate and dates, exqiusite sweetness lingering in your mouth creating an oily sirupy treacling texture, wonderfull sweet and bitter coffe aftertaste with a touch of hay.

750 ml bottle unknown vintage. Mild chocolate aromas, caramel, light anise as well in the aroma. Pours dark brown with a thin white head. Chocolatey and caramelly malts, hints of vanilla and coffee, toffee, hints of anise and a spicy hop bitterness. Not bad, feel more like an abbey ale than an imperial stout to me.
