The aroma was dark malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt mild hops and dark malt. A decent one that I would consider having again. Aroma of black walnuts - dark fruits - mince - some brandied chocolate; also caramel, raisins and rum. This beer certainly reminds one of a very good Barley Wine, the fruity sweet complexity held togeter with strong malts. The finish is long and rummy. did I say it has chunks? johndoughty (2156), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jul 26, 2009 750 ml bottle unknown vintage. Mild chocolate aromas, caramel, light anise as well in the aroma. Pours dark brown with a thin white head. Chocolatey and caramelly malts, hints of vanilla and coffee, toffee, hints of anise and a spicy hop bitterness. Not bad, feel more like an abbey ale than an imperial stout to me.
