Mild chocolate aromas, caramel, light anise as well in the aroma. Pours dark brown with a thin white head. Chocolatey and caramelly malts, hints of vanilla and coffee, toffee, hints of anise and a spicy hop bitterness. Not bad, feel more like an abbey ale than an imperial stout to me. Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jul 14, 2009 bottled 311/524 brewed 14 dec 2007 shared by boltz7555.... Good sweet licorice aroma. Brown body with tan head. Thick sweet licorice and caramel mix. Thick good stout on palate. Thanks Jason marcus (1821), Sacramento, California, USA Jul 13, 2009 This dark brown ale poured with modest tan head that quickly subsided. There is a strong treacle and alcohol aroma. It is syrupy rhick with a rather flat but interesting flavor - plum, licorice and alcohol. thebeertourist (2750), Oslo, Norway Jul 8, 2009 On tap at ’t Arendsnest.
