33cl bottle. Pitch black pour with a thin beige head. Smells of roasted malts, cocoa, dark fruit, dried fruit, caramel, molasses, toffee. The taste follows the same notes, mixed with a herbal hop bitterness. Medium body and bitter-sweet aftertaste. A bit too thin for an imperial stout.

Too thin for an imperial stout. Aroma lightly roasted. Aftertaste has a hint of old tablecloth (from the Saaz?). But still an ok beer.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 20C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch unknown (BF 11/08/40). AROMA: predominant dark malt aroma with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and fruity esters (dark raisins). subtle peppery and port-like alcohol and a moderate sweet background. APPEARANCE: dark brown color with ruby highlights and clear. below average brown head with medium-low retention. leg formation. TASTE: predominant roasted malt with notes of coffee, dark chocolate. moderate fruity esters with notes of dried dark grapes. moderate bitterness from hops and roasted malts with a semi-dry finish. slight vinous and port-like quality. hop flavor not discernible. PALATE: full body with a slight velvety texture low carbonation. alcohol deceptive. OVERALL: a very good and complex Imperial stout. recommended.

The aroma of chocolate, coffee and light licorice. The taste is the same. Good bitterness that fills the mouth for a long time. Good beer but had higher expectations of this beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Barely pours a white head that leaves traces of lace. Black color, no highlights, some yeast left in bottle. Very light carbonation and medium bodied. Roasted chocolate nose and flavor is roasted/bitter chocolate, faint alcohol. Light bitter finish. Pricey at $10.99 for a 330ml bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma. Bottled 27/2/2013.
