Wrocław IVFDP: Piana: Brązowa, drobnopęcherzykowa, delikatna, niezbyt obfita. Kolor: Czarne, nieprzejrzyste. Pod światło pod koniec picia brązowe refleksy. Zapach: Dużo paloności i czekolady. Nuty kawowe, wędzone śliwki, rodzynki. Intensywny. Spod tego wyłazi wanilia, melainodyny w typie ciemnego chleba. Smak: Bardzo palone, intensywnie słodkie, chlebowe. Likier czekoladowy, czekolada z kawą. Tekstura: Gęste, bardzo duże ciało, wyklejające palonością, lepkie. Nasycenie: Niskie. Goryczka: Wysoka z komponentą paloną. Pijalność: Średnia. Rasputin zrobił na mnie wrażenie swoją mocą i intensywnością. Pomimo tak wysokiej zawartości alkoholu, jest on praktycznie niewyczuwalny. Bardzo konkretne i intensywne piwo degustacyjne.

Brouwerij (936) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - SEP 8, 2014
Bottle, labelled 03/28/14. Pours very dark brown with small light brown head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, caramelized sugar, toffee. Flavor is sweet up front, caramelized sugar, toffee, fading into a toasted, caramel, roasted malt finish. Toffee, roasted, and mildly bitter finish. Sweet, fruity alcohol as it warms, plum, quite palatable considering abv. Soft carbonation, medium-full body, and very smooth texture, lightly dry finish.

Nice enough Imperial Stout. Coffee, chocolate, caramel, brandy and vanilla. Not too sweet, not too bitter. Liked it better with every new sip. Started humming the Boney M song with the same name in the end. All good.

Alengrin (2324) - BELGIUM - AUG 31, 2014
Renowned imperial stout with thin, moussy, yellow beige head only after forced pouring and quickly falling apart in large bubbles; colour a burgundy bronze, very dark but not entirely black, misty. Powerful and complexely perfumed aroma of cocoa powder, coffee grounds, whisky, cloves, bayleaves, sweet tobacco, old madera, candi sugar. Sweet candi in the onset, red berries, candied dates, deep caramel and chocolate maltiness, spicy and yeasty with soft, rounded mouthfeel, low carbonation, long and dry, complex finish with peppery hops and warming, bourbon- and liqueur-like alcohol. Too bad for the lack of head but I can easily forgive this considering its wonderful complexity.

I didn’t get any head when I poured this. What I did get was a huge aroma - coffee, chocolate and lingering fruits. Flavour is of lightly toasted malts, vanilla, aforementioned coffee and chocolate, liquorice, and some dark fruit right at the base. Full bodied and oily. Very good.

Tap at Fermentoren Aarhus. Pours clear, reddish dark brown. Almost black. Small, oily, tan head. Aroma has chocolate, bourbonlike booziness, licorice, toffee and a sharp roast. Taste is fairly sugar-sweet, roasted, licorice, toffee, coffee, dried fruits, and with a slight heat in the end. Full, oily body and a low carbonation.
