3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Uber Tavern in Seattle, as íCease and Desistí. Dark purple-brown, big foam. Alc and licorice, rich malt and unique yeast. Definitely a De Molen beer, lovely. Rich, tart apple, calvados, pear kind of fruitiness. Leather, fruit skin. Tasty, sticky.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from 14/07/2011. Black with a huge beige head. Looks amazing and having had this several times before, Iím looking forward to finally punching some notes, though I must have this in my handwritten backlog somewhere. Aroma of cocoa, chocolate and prunes. Lovely. Sweet flavour of the same along with roasted malts and the bitterness sharpening those very same notes. Body is full and pleasant on the tongue. Iíd serve this at my own funeral knowing people would be having a beer, which summons my taste up great. This beer is wonderful and though itís not my highest rated, it has the drinkability to avoid turning off a lot impy-dislikers, which is something I regard highly in all my beers: make it accessible to the common man in order to get him to like something new. Menno: youíre a great brewer and I cherish all the experiences youíve given me. Keep it up!
Aging adds a lot to this beer, so store it well, fellows.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl in a Trappist glass. Pours a very dark brown with an almost non-existent head. Very low carbonation. Slightly thinner mouthfeel than expected for the strength and style but extremely sticky. This is possibly the most toffeelike of all beers I have tried with little chance for any other flavour to shine through. Far from De Molenís best.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma very disappointing - no chocolate, only hint of coffee, mainly fruity - dried plums, some raspberries and other red fruits. Dark colour, ruby on the light, very weak head with big bubbles, quickly minimized. Beer is also not that oily like RISes can be. In taste we have same things as in aroma with slightly more coffee at the finish, beer is rather sweet. Medium body, medium carbonation, almost no bitterness. In overall very dissapointing beer, I had high expectations after drinking Hemel & Arde which was very good RIS.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours black and subtle brown head. Sweet dried fruit and roasted aroma. Taste is sweet yet perfectly roasted malt flavor. I love this beer. Mouthfeel is just as expected to balance this one out. Very good even regardless of the fact that I always rate De Molen high. They are almost always as I like my favorite styles.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep brown body with a quite small but creamy light-brown head that laces the glass well and reduces to a very thin layer. The unusually pleasant and strong aroma is heavy malty with lovely roasted notes that are not at all burnt, dark and sweet caramel and only faint traces of coffee. All this on a background of dark dried fruits and vanilla. The strong flavours are more roasted than the aroma with more obvious coffee in addition to the sweet and dark caramel. The dark dried fruits are accompanied by fresh fruits, without this being a overly late-hopped beer by any means. Finally some alcohol and herbs. The taste is moderate sweet and there is a moderate bitterness in the long finish. The mouthfeel is full and oily with a soft carbonation. A massive imperial stout that is also quite gentle, probably due to the extremely well balanced taste and flavours. Lovely!

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle 33cl - date 2013. I drank version 2010 some years ago. Well, this is not the same beer! For me is not imperial stout style. Strong dark ale? Stout?sure not imperial! Black with small head cappuccino. Dark fruits a little bit sour. Not good, if compare the different version.
