pours a pale blackish brown... whatever that means... capped with a foamy beige-ish head.
it smells and tastes of roast, earthy chocolate and fruit/prunes?. the flavor has a strange sourness from the roast and the palate is quite dry throughout.
the body is thinner than the typical american imperial. this keeps it highly drinkable... amazingly thin for the abv%! 7/4/7/4/15/3.7 IrishBoy (2707), Bakersfield, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 29, 2009 750 ml bottle from Liquid Solutions brewed May 15, 2008 #201/380. Nose of chocolate, roastiness, and a little prunes and licorice (first glass was heavy in licorice but that disappeared as I worked down the bottle) Clear dark cherry brown with a big, tan, glass lacing head. Flavor is chocolate, light bitterness, and hints of coffee and alcohol. The chocolate flavors really showed as the beer warmed; guess that’s why they say to serve it at 15C (59F)! An almost black colored beer, with a thick foamy dark beige head. The aroma of roasted malts and nutes, with dark fruits, cherry and prunes. And there is chocolate. The taste is dry bitter of roasted malts, with several dark fruits. It has an undertone of sweets. The aftertaste is dry bitter, with a little sweet. BOLTZ7555 (1080), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Dark chocolate pour with creamy eggshell ring for a head. Tons of roast in this one...smoke, molasses, and cocoa. Quite a bit of dark fruit and honey-baked biscuit present as well. Definitely not an American Impy...thinner, more delicate, but still delicious.
