Black color with amber highlight and small tan head that quickly becomes a ring. Sweet malts, chocolate, dark fruit. Taste is rich, sweet, chocolate, dark fruits, very balanced. Smooth carbonation. Very good, but more style-typical than many other De Molens.

Bottled, with date 4 XII 2039 (yeah, nice), 0,33l. So, drinked young. Pours dark brown, with some ruby reflexes but only under very strong light. Brown head, mostly small bubbled, leaving a some lacing. Later dropping to minimal, but appearing after shaking a little ;) The aromas from the bottle are roasted malts, dark plum, some coffee, very delicate liqourly scent of alcohol. It’s different from the glass apparently - there’s more dark fruits, the liqour aroma is more intensive (but still, a pleasant one), dark malts and coffee on the second plan. In either of them - the aroma is great. Low carbonated, little oily and rather full bodied. Alcohol warms the throat after the finish - but it’s not in the taste, so very well hidden. The taste is kind of sweet, with some fruity flavours, but the finish gives some dark bread sourness and chocolate aftertaste. Bitterness is quite low and gentle. Very nice RIS - not a session beer at all, but it’s not super powerful either - like RIS could and probably should. But worth recommending.

75cl bottle bought at the old school and stored in my cellar for 3 years. Pours dark coffee brown with almost no head; very little carbonation. Heavy burnt caramel aroma. Quite pronounced bitterness in the flavour, giving way to a sweet coffee aftertaste. Not my favourite stout, but of course a good showing from de Molen.

bottle @ Hugos. Appearance: pours clear dark brown/black with small off-white soapy head and ok lacing. aroma/taste: caramel, chocolate, coffee, tobacco and lots of fruity esters (prune, fig, raisin, cherry) and some floral hints. palette: medium carbonation, average to full body, some caramel sweetness, average to distinct bitterness, long duration and an oily texture. Overall: nice fruity and complex stout

Deep, watery chocolate brown with the thinnest tan head that faded immediately. No lacing, no legs. Aroma is deeply roasted malt, dark chocolate, and some slightly burnt molasses. Taste was much like the aroma: almost a mix between an English stout and a bad barleywine. Mouthfeel is very thin. Light body and low carbonation.
