I love IPS and this was a very good one with a nice black body and a white head with a nice rich vanilla flavor and a fruity flavor that also was very roasty overall a different type of beer but not bad at all.CHEERS!

Bottle. Creamy high and lasting light brown head. Hazy very dark brown body. Alcohol dominated aroma (which I do not like) in a complex mixture of berries coffee and liquorice. Flavor though is more pleasant without the expected alcohol dominans, or disguised by a strong coffee choccolate liquorice flavor with a creamy and pleasant mouthfeel. Low carbonation, Long bitter sweet creamy aftertaste.

750. Btl 499. Brewed 12/07. Thanks, Hogfodder! Awesome stuff for sure. Pours black with a thick, creamy, dense tan head. Big nose of chocolate, liquorice, and caramel. Roasty as well. Thick, creamy, medium body. All the liquorice, caramel, and chocolate return for the mid-palate. Still quite young yet without a doubt, but delicious nevertheless. For the abv, it’s quite unassuming, and it’s easy to imagine either drinking this all day or laying it down for decades. Wonderful stuff.

Bottled(750ml). -from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Vintage 2008, bottle No 238. Brewed March 27th 2008, bottled May 3rd 2008.
Dark brown (almost black) coloured, medium sized beige head, nutty dusty nose. Dark chocolate, roasted malt and fruits in the taste with notes of spices, vanilla and alcohol. Smooth and silky, very good RIS.

Pours deep dark red - black in the middle. A fine, creamy beige head - rather small though with medium duration. Wonderful aroma, dark chocolate dominating, lots of hazelnuts, some viniousness, medium roasted and light coffee. Low carbonation, wonderful creaminess. Flavour is sweet, lots of dark cocoa-chocolate, light coffee. Good deal of dry hoppiness and the same balanced roastiness. Long, lingering aftertaste with hops and roasted malts. Nice - reminds me of the Schans Winterbier 2004.

Well, rate no.700 turned out to be for a better beer than I expected. Poured a dark murky red-brown colour, almost black. Medium sized tan head that went away slowly. The nose was quite subtle at the beginning, with only some weak dustiness and roastiness showing themselves, but as the beer warmed, some nice malty and nutty notes showed up. Nougat too. The taste was great at the beginning. A superb dark fruit maltiness, silky as Ogi put it, with some alcohol and chewy hops. Some chocolate. A long roasty and hoppy (bitter) aftertaste. Some dull yeastiness showed up later and enveloped everything and the beer actually got a bit worse as I went through it. Still, it’s a very good, very drinkable imperial stout, no doubt about it. I just wish that the taste remained on the level of the first impression.

Bottle. Plenty tart, plenty leathery, lots of grapes and barnyard. Flavorful with even more both fresh and tart fruits. This beer is retartded good now and would be so much different and hopefully better later.

Pours light brown out of the bottle and appears very dark brown, nearly black in the glass. Brown edges, with lasting foam, that is a very light tan, nearly white. It’s very aromatic with a variety of dark fruit notes. Mouth feel is fairly well textured and the finish lasts in a decent manner. Flavor is well balanced. Dry. It has a very light chocolate hint and is mostly accented with dark fruit flavors. Fairly nice ale. Wish it was richer and roastier, but it does have some nice elements.

Bottle 414. Pours dark brown, with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and fruit. Flavor is sweet roasted malt, caramel, chcoclate. Sweetness is a bit too much. Not exactly to style, to me.

Bottle 75 cl, bottle nr. 76 brewed in march and bottled in may 2008. Pours black with a small tan head and a sweet syruppy aroma, with notes of dark sugar, dark coffee, dark chocolate, ripe red fruits and something roasted. The mouthfeel is liquorice and the starting taste is very sweet. After that a lot of different tastes come kicking in, very dark chocolate, molasse, roasted malts and brown sugar. Leaves a feeling in my moth like didn’t only drink this beer but I also had a whole bar of chocolate and a big sigar. I wonder how this tastes when aged for some years
