UPDATED: JUL 22, 2010 Opaque dark amber/brown with thick tan head. Aroma of bitter chocolate. Flavor of burnt coffee, dry and full-mouthed. Bitter chocolate finish. Easily our best beer of the night, one of the best stouts I’ve ever had. Heaven.
Draft at Churchkey, under the name Disputin. Much more thin and watery than the Rasputin, much less chanracter and complexity than the bottled version. 3.4.

Phew, what a heavy hitter! Poured with the thickest slowest pouring residual foam I’ve ever seen. The tan head was amazinly foamy, frothy, billowy, thick, sudsy that seemed almost permanent and loads of clingy lace. Color is an opaque brown black. Aroma is roast, licorice, malt, molasses, dark leather, brandy, cough syrup. Flavor’s similar with sweetness in the fore, followed by bitter and tang. Very full, lush, voluputous and excellent carbonation. Finish is like flavor and very long. Absolute world class. Would love to have one in 20 years.
4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 RIXbeer (102) - USA - NOV 28, 2008
Pours a very dark brown. Almost black it’s so brown. Large creamy/foamy eggshell colored head. Fades slow. Foam coats and sticks to sides. Huge molasses and chocolate smells with a deep aroma of dark fruits. Smooth smokey chocolate with a large molasses flavor and dark fruits (like plums and maybe even cherry) in the background. Light hints of licorice. This beer is very reminiscent of a Dark Lord but thinner and a tiny bit smoother. The light carbonation keeps this beer from feeling flat while filling the palate. Making this a very drinkable beer, if it were a little more available and a lot cheaper. It is an amazing brew though.

Bottled May 11, 2010 bottle 654. One of my big all time favourites. Pitch black and good head. To my taste perfect stout. A lot of aromas and sweet enough, but not too much.
4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 badlizard (4400) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 22, 2011
On tap at Small Bar. Black with a foamy light brown head. Floral chocolate aroma. Sweet rose candy pear and chocolate taste with a slightly tart citrus and chalky chocolate finish with lingering flower perfume on the very back end. Nice soft silk velvet palate.
4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 BigMomma (213) - Leuven, BELGIUM - APR 7, 2010
75cl bottle with black wax, #100/1030 batch February 2009
Pours a darkblack color with a darkred to black shine. The head is lightbrown and creamy with some large bubbles. Very tasteful appearance! Aroma is very complex with sweet roasted malt and very fruity with dried fruits like raisins, dark fruits like black berries, red fruit like cherry’s and grapes, sweet chocolate and some sweet peer. The taste is full of sweet roasted malt, sweet chocolate, dark fruits, raisins and some gentle hops creating a slight bitterness. After some time the roasted malts become more sensible and the bitterness becomes tougher with some nice coffee touches. The mouthfeel is very soft and smooth with some sticky feeling. The drinkability is superb. A magnificent gentle and fruity stout! Superb!
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Merrill (77) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 7, 2009
Hey, I really like this beer and this brewery. Pours not quite black with a light brown head. Aroma of black walnuts - dark fruits - mince - some brandied chocolate; also caramel, raisins and rum. This beer certainly reminds one of a very good Barley Wine, the fruity sweet complexity held togeter with strong malts. The finish is long and rummy. did I say it has chunks?
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Eructoblaster (2110) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 23, 2011
Bottle - 330ml. Pours a cloudy dark brown body with a thick beige foamy head. Wonderful, complex malty/hoppy aroma with bourbon, chocolate, and some oaky hints. Strong, sharp taste is slightly dominated by hoppy flavors. It carries strong vineous and oaky notes. Ends with a long, warming bittersweet finish. Awesome!
