In a different style, the comparison with the mythic Tsarina Esra is unavoidable, and in my opinion, Rasputin wins. Maybe one of the three best Imperial Stouts Iíve ever tasted. Pours into the glass like petroleum: solid, steady and promising an aroma and flavour that donít dissapoint. Very, very great.

Dark brown/ black with lasting foamy lacy beige head: aroma is rich sweetish fruit like raisin and blackberry; Flava s same with hints of slightly smoky malty syrupy molasses hops; I cannot describe how complex it is; feel rich chewy with fizz; finishes dry malty slightly roasty toasty smoky

Goes to the top of my ris list. Sweet, chocolate aromas top the dark notes creating a complex beer that is refreshing with every sip ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle 33cl. Thick dark brown pour with a huge beige head. Sweet bakers chocolate dominates - this is actually more sweet than roasty

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2010 Opaque dark amber/brown with thick tan head. Aroma of bitter chocolate. Flavor of burnt coffee, dry and full-mouthed. Bitter chocolate finish. Easily our best beer of the night, one of the best stouts Iíve ever had. Heaven. Draft at Churchkey, under the name Disputin. Much more thin and watery than the Rasputin, much less chanracter and complexity than the bottled version. 3.4.

Dilightfull and complex beer. Roasted barley. All kinds of smoked flavours. Sweet and bitter in the taste.

Pours a very dark brown. Almost black it’s so brown. Large creamy/foamy eggshell colored head. Fades slow. Foam coats and sticks to sides. Huge molasses and chocolate smells with a deep aroma of dark fruits. Smooth smokey chocolate with a large molasses flavor and dark fruits (like plums and maybe even cherry) in the background. Light hints of licorice. This beer is very reminiscent of a Dark Lord but thinner and a tiny bit smoother. The light carbonation keeps this beer from feeling flat while filling the palate. Making this a very drinkable beer, if it were a little more available and a lot cheaper. It is an amazing brew though.

Bottled May 11, 2010 bottle 654. One of my big all time favourites. Pitch black and good head. To my taste perfect stout. A lot of aromas and sweet enough, but not too much.
