Bottle shared with Deanso. Pours hazy amber with an off white head. Aroma is sweet malt, vinous, fruity. Flavour seems a touch sour and moderate sweet. Not sure if this bottle may be off, according to Deanso it’s different than one tried previously. Seems like white wine barrel aged but don’t know from the bottle. Certainly not what I expected.

Medium yellowish, shortlived head, fed by lively carbonated hazy orange-ochre beer. Bourbon nose, alcoholic, vanilla & oakbomb; faint hint @ liquorice, tarragon. Quite sweet & syrupy. Sweet-woody, hints at chocolate and praliné/ganache. Again (heavy) tell-tale signs of Bourbon, with all the specs - yet not overly sweet let alone cloying. Ripe banana, hints of incense. Well-bodied, but remaining short of truly viscous (the carbonation?) Oily it, velvety; alcoholwarming. Another very good B.W., despite the heavy Bourbon stamp, still very enjoyable and even drinkable.

Orange à Orange foncé. Presque pas de mousse, pas de carbonation. Nez puissant de chêne. Goût fort de vanille corps sirupeux.

Pours a deep amber with this head that soon dissipates. Clear for a bottle conditioned beer. Aroma is impressive, with heavy vanilla. The taste is well balanced, a little sweet up front, with lingering slight bitterness at the back of the pallet on the finish. Vanilla as on the nose, with some chocolate, a little warmth from the alcahol. Overall this is a very impressive beer. Very we’ll balanced and very drinkable. I won’t search it out again in a hurry, but next time I see it I’ll get some for the cellar.

Bottle . Pours rather unclear blonde. Some flakes on the bottom, but not more than exceptable . Good white head . Smell is sharp , grainy, bit bourbon but its very hidden . Taste is sharp , full sweet grains, with oaky bourbon , also on the grainy, vanilla side . Very sweet in total , but just not over the top . fruity, even . Nice one . Some hidden bitterness in the back .

Pours mostly clear pale to medium amber with one fingers of off-white head diminishing gradually to a tight cap, some particulate, heavy lacing. (3/5) Nose is oaky wood, red berries, caramel malt, vinous notes. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, moderate bitter, spicy alcohol burn. (7/10) Medium body, moderate to low carbonation, warming finish. (4/5) Whew! Got in under the wire on that 2022 best before date… Pretty decent barleywine, and in fact has picked up a lot of oaky, vinous character from the barrel ageing. Barleywines don’t tend to be my favourite styles, but this one is quite interesting and drinkable. (15/20)

Bottle. Pours clear golden with very short lasting tiny with head, bit fizzy and some sediment. Aroma has fruity orange, sweet orange marmalade, malt, slight coco. Taste is kind of fresh. Sweet, malty caramel and at same time it got some some fresh fruityness. Slight coco and vanilla as it warms. Medium to full bodied and well hidden alcohol. Long medium bitter finish with some peel.

Bottle. Glowing orange color with a light white head. Aroma has orange peel, coconut, a hint of vanilla, apricot jam, some but not a whole lot of booze, very hoppy. Taste is full bodied, sugary but it also has a fresh and dry hop finish. The alcohol is well hidden, and the balance seems fine. Not much carbonation and a slightly sticky palate.

Vestergaard (455) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - NOV 2, 2014
33 cl bottle. Pours clear, but yeasty orange with a small, fizzy head. Aroma is very fruity with lots of orange and a bit of coco nut. apricot jam, dry leather and hops. Taste is fairly fresh, bitter up front, gets sweeter, and ends of pretty dry. Bourbon is not very prominent, but only adds this coco nut and a tiny bit of vanilla. Fresh, fizzy carbonation, but with a fairly dense body. Slightly schizophrenic, but really nice and drinkable.
