Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a cloudy and almost opaque amber with a small and creamy off-white head. Very spicy, woody nose with a pleasant vanilla touch. Medium body only, very fruity, pleasant subtle and very spicy with a slightly tart edge. The alcohol is surprisingly well hidden. 040213

Golden orange toffee-like color. Smell is almost exclusively toffee mixed with additional sugar. Tastes like diabetes. Toffee and vanilla. The taste is heavy, mouth filling, warming, oily and a little too aggressive concerning the alcohol. Very calm carbonation. Round, yet not really balanced taste. Too much sugar and a tiny bit too much barrel taste.

Orange-brown color with medium white head. Bourbon nose, vanilla, booze, hint of oak. Spicy yeasts as well. Taste is caramelized banana syrup, thick, vanilla, bourbon, burning booze. Burn is gone quickly, leaves a subtle caramel oak feeling behind. Lots of barrel here. Soft carbonation after the barrel. Nice brew, but I guess it needed the wood, behind that it’s a bit plain.

Bottle at Gainsbar. Smells like rare cheese cheesecake and dried fruit. Taste is great. Subtle bourbon, very fruity, creamy sweetness. Lovely,

Backlog rating. 33cl bottle at Caspar tasting at Chriso’s, London. Sweet and yeasty, does not even come close to the sweet goodness of Boomen & Granaten. Solid anyways

330ml bottle courtesy of Benzai, thanks. Pours a cloudy orange color with a small off-white head that quickly recedes to a fine ring. The aroma is apricots, vanilla, wood and mild whiskey. The taste is sweet and sour with more of the same ingredients observed in the aroma. The palate is full and viscous and the carbonation is very soft. Finishes long and sweet. Overall: A different take on a barley wine, very nice.

On tap @ de Molen. Clear orange with a small off-white head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Sweet and warming alcoholic, with bitter and sour notes. Apple, wood, dark cherries and some smoke. A nice barley wine.

Medium yellowish, shortlived head, fed by lively carbonated hazy orange-ochre beer. Bourbon nose, alcoholic, vanilla & oakbomb; faint hint @ liquorice, tarragon. Quite sweet & syrupy. Sweet-woody, hints at chocolate and praliné/ganache. Again (heavy) tell-tale signs of Bourbon, with all the specs - yet not overly sweet let alone cloying. Ripe banana, hints of incense. Well-bodied, but remaining short of truly viscous (the carbonation?) Oily it, velvety; alcoholwarming. Another very good B.W., despite the heavy Bourbon stamp, still very enjoyable and even drinkable.

Orange à Orange foncé. Presque pas de mousse, pas de carbonation. Nez puissant de chêne. Goût fort de vanille corps sirupeux.

Pours a deep amber with this head that soon dissipates. Clear for a bottle conditioned beer. Aroma is impressive, with heavy vanilla. The taste is well balanced, a little sweet up front, with lingering slight bitterness at the back of the pallet on the finish. Vanilla as on the nose, with some chocolate, a little warmth from the alcahol. Overall this is a very impressive beer. Very we’ll balanced and very drinkable. I won’t search it out again in a hurry, but next time I see it I’ll get some for the cellar.
