Draft at Monks. Pours black very thin head that did not last. Nose of smoke, roasted malt, dark fruits, chocolate, whiskey, vinegar. Nice tartness that balances out the smoke.

Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth with a little fine minerally carbonation. Sourish dark malt, touch of balsamic vinegar and cherry. Light salty brett. Mellow smoke before a light crispy finish. Sourish linger. Interesting and unusual beer. Hangs together well.

Bottle from "hannont". Colour...cloudy, dark brown with a tan head. Nose...smoky, roasty and bacony. Palate...tangy and kind of fruity. There’s crushed cane berries a wine gum flavour but not much else shows up. Decent stuff and quite different.

Bottle 750ml. corked.

Clear dark brown colour with virtually no head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, smoke, vanilla, alcohol - whisky, light wood, light vinegar. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet, light light acidic and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, bourbon - whisky, soy sauce, balsamico, tart, vinegar. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20131122]

Corked bottle from Pibar, Lausanne; bottled 2013-07-04
Pitch black color with small brown head. Roasted malt aroma, coffee, a bit too sour; it’s also vinous and has traces of firewood and abbey cheese. Good body strength; it has a moderate carbonation; roasted malt flavor, with too much acidity, and some smoke completes the mess. Quite strong alcohol perception.
It’s good, but it’s excessive.
More is less.
