3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Menno told me this used Rodenbach barrels and yeast when I asked him at the Festival. Interesting beer, like JP’s similar sour stout. Roasty with sour cherry and balsamic and then back to cocoa. Certainly tasty, though best in small doses.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from "hannont". Colour...cloudy, dark brown with a tan head. Nose...smoky, roasty and bacony. Palate...tangy and kind of fruity. There’s crushed cane berries a wine gum flavour but not much else shows up. Decent stuff and quite different.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Corked bottle from Pibar, Lausanne; bottled 2013-07-04
Pitch black color with small brown head. Roasted malt aroma, coffee, a bit too sour; it’s also vinous and has traces of firewood and abbey cheese. Good body strength; it has a moderate carbonation; roasted malt flavor, with too much acidity, and some smoke completes the mess. Quite strong alcohol perception.
It’s good, but it’s excessive.
More is less.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
From my backlog. On tap @ Irreale. Black colour with a creamy tan head with good duration. Aroma has notes of roasted malts, with some acidic notes and strong bourbon traces. Flavor is toasted and roasted malts, mild bitterness and strong ripe fruits, plumbs, licorice and bourbon all together with wooden notes. The final is slightly acidic with roasted malts and bourbon.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 75cl corked. A flat one, dark, dark brown colored and clear. Lightly sourish nose with some smoke and leather… sic. Some berries and hints of coffee. Warming on the palate, full-bodied and flat, with lots of flavors. Some sour berries, coffee and alcohol. Smoke hints and roasted malts. Long finish with roasted malts, coffee, alcohol and sourness. A quite strange one, but I like it anyway. Would be pleased by some carbonation though. 131122

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle @ Scooper Tasting in Ulfborg. Pours cloudy dark brown with small tan head. Dark aroma of roast, coffee, malt, caramel, and dark chocolate. Sourish, vinous taste - totally off - with a note of old coffee beans, carefully tucked away and stored in my greatgrandfather’s potato cellar. Veriy thin body but that must be pure deception. Needs re-rating.
