UPDATED: MAY 10, 2015 Bottle from Amersin. Clear rubyish dark brown colour. Stable head. Aroma dark malts, dark fruits, some peaty smokiness. Taste is considerably more smoky, heavy rauch character, both beech and peat elements. Other than that there are also dried fruits and some caramel, but this beer is defined by heavy smoke presence. Complex, fun, pleasant. Harder to drink though. Very good nevertheless.

0,33 l bottle from EDEKA Mohr, bottled on 6/5/2013. The label doesn’t mention any chilis by the way, but the beer is announced as a spiced stout. Clear, almost opaque, very dark reddish brown to black with a thin, soapy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Nice, intense aroma of plums, raisins, smoked ham and dark chocolate with hints of peat. Fruity-smoky taste of plums, raisins, dark cherries, smoked ham and dark chocolate, followed by a rather long, smoky, peated and slightly bitter finish with maybe minmal notes of chili. Medium to full body, smooth and creamy texture, flat. Very good brew that is extremely well-balanced. Although so much is going on, none of the flavours dominates or kills the other ones. I assume it benefited from the two years of aging.

Goed gebalanceerd.

Very smoked flavor. A lot of smoke in the aroma and flavor first. Then there are other spices, black pepper dominates. Very interesting and tasty.

Bottle at Monks Café Stockholm. Big and lastning brown head. Chocolate aroma with a small chili tuch. Chocolate taste and a bit vegetable chili. Medium body and low sweetness and bitterness.

Pours dark brown, flat, no head. Aroma is charred wood, burnt tobacco, ripe fruit. Taste is sweet ’n’ sour up front, then smokey. Leaves sugar on the lips and a burnt (not roasted) after-taste. Palate is syrupy. Mixed bag here, Flanders Ale, Rauchbier, Porter all in one. Jack of all trades syndrome but quite pleasant.

Geiserich (3731) - Linz, AUSTRIA - APR 5, 2015
Bottle: Black color, creamy brown head. Aroma is malt, sweetness, berries, smoke, cacao. Flavor is sourly-sweet with fruitiness of plums and dark berries, cacao, dark chocolate, wood fire, smoke, barrels, red wine. Complex, tasty, very good.

Bottle at home, Black beer with a small head, aroma is smoke, Taste is smoke, some malt, hint of spices. Hmm not a big fan of smoked beers, and the chili isnt that outspoken, not bad but not awesome.

Les Fleurs du Malt, Lyon tap: Pours black with a beige head. Aroma is strong peat smoke and some dark chocolate. Taste is thick and smoky at first, but as your mouth gets used to it, the thick, slightly sweet maltiness comes through more. Quite complex, with a warm finish. Low carbonation. I didn’t get much chili.
