330ml pourred into tulip. Pours a very deep opaque brown with copper highlights with one of the biggest head I’ve ever seen for a rauchbier with such a high abv. Aroma is a mix of campfire and caramel malts, cacao (as it warms up) and a bit of alcohol. Taste is obviously smoky and also a bit sugary as the brew warms up, and theres a bit of bitterness too. Mouthfeel is thin-slick (would’ve expected a thicker mouthfeel than that but its ok) with average carbonation. Aftertaste is full of roasted cereals, very nice. Overall a very nice high abv rauchbier (and my first de molen :D) I’ll try tasting their bloed zweet & tranen soon!

Bottle at the Hemelvaart Bier Café in Ayton. Deep brown, almost black with a cream head. Smoky bacon aroma with some hospital. The taste has lots of antiseptic smokiness with chocolate and chilli spice. A lot going on. Very tasty.

330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB 07/07/2019 Pours a deep thick brown murky body, creamy tan head persists. BOOM! Pungent nose of smoked meat, camp fire, touch of earthy peat, chocolate, burnt toast, brown sugar, spicy dried chilli. Body is lovely & rich, slightly slick yet creamy, nice hum of chilli. This is just jam packed full of character! Starts with some sweet brown sugar, dark chocolate, leading onto dried sultana, date & prune-y sort of notes, then camp fire, charred meat, peat & smoked bacon, lingering on a warming finish with firm bitterness & chilli spice. Could see how this would polarise people, but I love it!

330ml bottle, BB 7 Jul 2019. Dark brown, ruby highlights, small off white head, low carbonation. Strong aroma of smoked bacon, bourbon, campfire, charred meat. The taste also has a very strong peat smoke character, bacon, chocolate maltiness, earthy and spicy hop bitterness. Medium bodied, fairly slick, low carbonation. Quite good but the smokiness is a little too prominent.

33cl bottle. Dark brown with beige head. Poor retention. Intense Smoke, dark malts and lightly chillies in the aroma. Average to soft carbonation and medium body. Taste is smoky with some chilli notes towards the end but fainted by the intense smoke notes. Overall, not exactly a beer to have in a BBQ but drinkable.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2016 Not something I would want to drink everyday, but quite interesting nonetheless. Smoke, burnt matches, cacao, graphite, chipotle. Subtle sweetness, subtle bitterness. Not much foam. Carbonisation is nice and subtle.

Rökig doft! Röksmak med en hint av choklad. Mörk med stor ljus skumkrona. Rökigheten ligger kvar länge I munnen!

33cl bottle, served in snifter glass. Poured black with faint red hue. Two finger tan head. Aromas of peated smoke, chili peppers, dark chocolate, bacon. Taste: Massive BBQ Smoke, Loads of Chilli Peppers, peat, bacon, dark chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits, caramel, licorice, roasted malts. Lots and lots of smoke and fire in this brew indeed. Full body with a very sharp and long lasting chili pepper finish. It’s friggin’ burning inside my stomach now! Very tasty and fun brew! Bury me in SMOKE...
