Bottle, split by the bar tend, at Beermongers, PDX 26/05/13.
One of those rare sub ’3’ appearance ratings! Murky ’as’ amber brown - shades of Kidsgrove canal - with a thin off white head which dissipates edgeward. She ain’t no looker!
Nose is bitter orange, grain, rye, light smoke, hops.
Tate comprises grapefruit, bitter orange, mineral notes, pine, light smoke.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, hop bite in the finish.

pours amber, clear, small white foam .
smell has some hops, but not much at all .
soft carbo, soft drinkability,...very gentle beer. taste ... well i dont know if i had ( knowingly) chinook before, but this reminds me of a citra-like beer.. its got that sharpness in the taste. better than the other rye ipa i had by de molen ( in hoppy-taste) but still , this needs way more taste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle, Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm, 27 May 2013) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with rye, crisp-bread, orange peel and toast. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of rye, crisp-bread, dried orange peel, grapefruit and a generous resinous bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. The rye character is quite spicy and a bit harsh. Tasty and nice beer.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Brown long-neck bottle, poured into a tulip glass at home. ABV 6.6%. Bottled on 23 Jan. 2013.
Pours a very muddy and murky orange colour beer, with one finger od off-white head, low retention and light lacing on the glass.
Aroma of citrus fruits and florar hops. A bit of smokiness too, is this coming from the chinook?
Taste is mildly bitter at first, becomes much more intense bitter on the aftertaste. Lots of florar notes.
Medium on the body, light to medium carbonation. Nice dryness on the palate.
Good IPA, but not as good as others I had from De Molen.

Rye IPAs are always good, right? Delicious, malts are there with a lovely balance from the hops. I really have little to say. Spain tomorrow. Lager heaven?

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
33cl bottle (bottled on Jan. 23rd, 2013) picked up at the De Molen bottle shop pours with an opaque copper-y body that supports a full tan head of foam that leaves behind spotty lacing. The aroma offers up resiny almost pine like hops, a spicy rye bread note and then some grapefruit, lime and tangelo citrus hoppiness with slivers of malt sweetness. The taste is pretty rich in hoppiness with the same notes noted in the nose. I get a good dose of grapefruit and lime citrus hops that run straight into resiny bitter citrus and pine like hoppiness. Nice. It goes from flavor hoppiness and then into resiny bitter hops and then back to mildly malt sweetened hop flavor. I’m enjoying this one.
