Tap. Pitch black with a brown head. Oily inviting aroma of everything you would expect in a IS. Taste is bitter, roasted with a dry hoppy finish. Nice notes of smoke and liqourice and light alcohol. Plenty of hair in it’s balls.

No foam and no carbon. Vineous smell and taste. A sweet smell of burned caramell and dried fruits, very long aftertaste. However it feels like a bit to much flavour, it would probably have been better with less spices. It almost feels like drinking concentrated syrup. Still a good beer though.

Bottled at Monks Café, Stockholm. Pours out in an opaque black colour with a low creamy pale brown head. Rich well-structured aroma of salt, pat, wood, dark chocolate and peppery alcohol. Full-bodied with notes of salt, smoke, roasted malts, nuts, anise, licorice and cocoa. Solid, smooth mouthfeel with a low carbonation. Long warming smooth finish of tar, anise, salt, wood and black chocolate. Beautiful stuff!

On tap at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. An almost black beer with a small, off-white head. Lots of mocha and lots of sugar on the aroma. The flavor continues in the same way, with mocha and sweetness, some alcohol and fruits and a coffee-like bitterness towards the finish. Lasting mocha in the finish, quite dryish. Full-bodied, almost sticky, and warming. Not exactly easy to drink, but very good.(080913)
