From tap. Pours deep dark brown to black with a no head. First impresssion that reaches the nose is the hops followed by a roasted, mild smoked and annis seed aroma. Flavour is roasted and mild smoked. Hoppy towards the fruity side with a nice bitterness coming through. Smooth chocolate and mild sweetness into the finish. Nice one.

Draught at EBF Copenhagen 2008 ... Deep black no head ... chocolate roast malt nose ... Deep roat malt tones with hints of coffeee and light chocolate ... sligth burnt tones as well ... found it to have just a bit too much going on. but still quite nice.

[EBF @ Copenhagen, September 2008] Small fizzy beige head that mostly diminished. Fair display of lacework. Pitch black color. Aroma of heavy chocolate, dried fruit, berries, hint of smoke, burned malt and coffee. Full bodied with a soft carbonation. Heavy bitter and sweet flavor in balance. Lingering berries and liquorish finish with a roasted twist.

Black, tan head. Coffee aroma and taste. Zingy sherbet-like zing in the mouth. Smoke is subtle. Really tasty sipper. A bit alcoholic though.

Draught@EBF
Pitch black color, expresso head with big bubbles. Slightly smokey, roasted malty aroma. Quite alcoholic, sticky liquerish, some hops and smokey flavors. Coffee beans in the finish. Good, quite different than Hel&Verdenomis, which I understood is "father beer" for this one. This was more alcoholic and smokey.

[on tap at EBF 2008] Very chocolatey roasted barley with vanilla and coffee aroma. Opaque, dark brown with no top. Excellent imperial stout burnt almond flavour with coffee and chocolate notes. Sherry and some smoke too. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation and a dark malt bitter finish.
