Une très bonne biere qui n'a d'IPA que le nom, peu amère, et légèrement houblonnée. Quand même très agréable!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled #2013. Pours deep golden with an average, lacing off-white head. Aroma of rye notes, caramel, some citrus too, earthy, herbal and spicy hops. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carb. A very nice and pleasant DIPA.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Rusty brown color pours with off-white quickly dissipating head. Very little lacing. Agree with another reviewer that it seems like more of a fruity barley wine than an "IPA-ish". A bit too sweet for me, very light on the hops. More palatable than barley wine beers like Anchor’s I’ve tried though.

550ml bottle? -
An interesting take on the style, as it seemed more like a fruity barleywine that a classic IIPA. I’ve really enjoyed most (if not all) of De Molen’s beers and this too was nice, albeit WAY overpriced. A fruity aroma of pit fruit, and candied orange peel. Flavor was definitely sweet, long notes of oranges, more pit fruit, and caramel syrup. Really, really, really sweet for an IIPA. Where’s the hops? Gone I guess, but what’s left behind was still...pretty nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
330 ml bottle. Bottled on Feb 6th 2013. From bierzwerg.de.
Hazy reddish brown colour with a small tan head.
Sweetness, malt and mild fruitiness in the aroma.
The flavour is hoppy bitterness, sweetness, alcohol and more bitterness. Not my favourite DIPA.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from De Bierkoning, bottled Feb 2013 at 10.2% Cloudy orange / brown, sparkling, foamy white head. Aroma - orange juice, sour lemon. Body is medium to light, foamy, carbonation low. Taste - sweet caramel, sour notes, minerals. The description says that this doesn’t contain wheat, but it tastes as though it does. It doesn’t have the punch of an IIPA. Past its best.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very sweet and malty for a double IPA. The caramel and dried fruit tones of the malt hide the bitterness of the hops. I’m a fan of bitter I have to admit. But this is still full of flavour, big and impressively smooth for its punch.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Amber orange looks with massive bubbly head, which stays nicely. Leaves lots of lacing to the glass. Aroma is on the sweet side with fruits, caramel and malts. Hops are quite hidden underneath. Then taste offers malty full flavors, mainly caramel, spices raisins or plums and in the end there is a very smallish bitterness for an DIPA. Soft and full texture and medium-to-low carbonation. Malty and sweet DIPA without raging hops.

Finish is bitter and caramel and some alcohol burn. Overall: nice dipa, ABV rather well hidden, not very bitter or sweet, but somewhat watery.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330 ml bottle bought at Craftissmo in Tsim Sha Tsui East.
Cloudy hazy honey amber colour with bits of dirt-like yeast sediments; Half finger head and soapy off white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Small sticky lacing with near zero carbonation; Fragrant aroma of rich raisins and plum, with sweet ale malt, thick honey, light floral spices, lemon and strong grass; Sweet taste and rich ale malt, with strong dark fruits, shades of grapefruit, pretty strong alcohol, light biscuits, earth, cinnamon, spices, light yeast, liquorices, bitter lime and grassy hops; Mid to full body, slightly slick palate; Mouthfeel is wholesome, strong rich and sweet IPA with very strong dark fruits, nice sweet booze, very earthy and spicy Saaz and rye, yet somehow the yeast taste isn’t big at all. Pretty good so far… Hoppiness is very earthy, cinnamon, spicy and grassy in aroma and taste. Liquorices is moderate with a highly astringent and lasting mid-bitter finish; Quite dry after taste. Sweet, spicy and astringent to mouth.
Comments: This one tends to be a bit single-minded with lots of Saaz spicyness, top yeast’s dark fruits, and big sweet booziness. However, rye is a bit short, head is small, not all that smoothy, taste varieties is limited. Certainly decent but a bit monotone, De Molen’s Amarillo is a more exciting alternative.
