3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 skortila (4160) - Baarn, - OCT 26, 2011
On tap @ Copenhagen festival 2011. The aroma has roast, chcolate, oranges, grapefruits. Black coloured beer with a thin, off-white head. The taste is moderate bitter, has chocolate, roast, some coffee, citric fruitiness. Quite dry and full. The Amarillo version was better imo.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Vaiz (2034) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - APR 20, 2012
Bottle at home, almost a year old. Black pour, huge foamy tan head that stays forever. Aroma full of roasted malts, coffee, some grassy hops, a bit sharp and spicy. Flavor is quite bitter, dark roasted malts, somewhat sharp and a bit dry. Ashy finish and lingering bitterness. Quite black. A bit off balance, but interesting brew.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Svesse (4389) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - MAR 14, 2012
(Draught at Monk’s Porterhouse, Stockholm, 9 March 2012) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, hoppy nose with notes of citrus, grass, chocolate and a touch of shampoo. Hoppy, roasted taste with citrus, grass, hints of soap and some coffee coming through in the finish. More than medium body, with just a touch of sweetness. A bit different, more like a black IPA than a stout. But quite nice and tasty.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Countbeer (1944) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - DEC 31, 2011
Bottle: no. 799/936:
Big big foam, almost only foam that fills the glass. This tan foam changes slightly into a black beer with a vast tan head.
You really smell the Sorachi Ace as well as some roasted malts, bitter fruit and a hint of coffee. Absolutely not the regular heavy imperial stout smell but the big amount of hop makes it another pleasure to smell this beer.
Taste is quite tingly which changes directly into a roasted wood, vanilla earthy and hoppy mix. Quite delicious!
A roasty earthy bitter aftertaste.
Sparkling mouthfeel with a light creamy texture. Medium carbonated with a light creamy body between medium and full.
Interesting brew, some kind of black ipa, but more imperial stout oriented.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ughsmash (5824) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 20, 2011
Bottled 5/23/11, #904 of 936. Poured medium brown with a colossal cap of fluffy khaki head. The aroma picked up tropical fruits, soapy notes, and cocoa over some darker chocolates, nutmeg, and cloves.. touches of lavender on the back of the nose.. weird array of stuff that didn’t work great for me. The flavor found syrupy molasses, honey, and lesser maple sweetness at the core.. nutmeg, cloves, and other related spices accented, but the hops didn’t do much.. roasty, fairly generic black malts and dark spices on the disjointed finish. Medium-bodied and more sour than expected on the palate.. this was weird and possibly infected.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jkwood04 (1403) - Connecticut, USA - NOV 26, 2011
On tap in a snifter. Pours black with a thin head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, some spiciness, and some piney/citrusy hops. Flavor about the same, but the strong hops don’t blend perfectly with the dark malts. A little thicker than normal texture. A decent beer.

22nd September 2011 On tap at Arends Nest, Amsterdam. Opaque black beer, pale tan head. Unsubtle nose of Sorachi Ace - ie lemon cream. Light crisp palate. Light seltzer like minerals. Mild dark malt with the Sorachi lemon shining through. Nice crispy palate for an Impy Stout and something a bit different.
