3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Vintage 2010: #102/390
Medium to bigger sized, tan colored and airy structured head. Changes slowly into a lacing.
Beer color is murky brown with some yeast particles on the bottom of my glass.
Aroma’s of chocolate, roasted malts, mocha. Pretty nice.
flavours of coffee, barley roast, bitters, dark herbs and some dark fruits. Pretty smooth.
Aftertaste is bitter, roast, chocolate, light spicy.
Low carbo, soft smooth close to silky mouthfeel, medium to fuller body and a soft creamy texture.
Good beer, nicely balanced and tasty enough. Not sure if the aging added something?

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2010 (draught) pours the darkest ruby-brown colour with a dense frothy off-white head. aroma of citrussy hops, caramel and toasted malts, coffee and brown sugar, nicely balanced. flavour is as above, though not so extremely well balanced, the hops seeming somewhat out of place. medium lightly alcoholic body with smooth carbonation.

Shared this bottle with Colin. A black ale with a light tan head. Hoppy aromas of pine, passion fruit and pineapple. Coffee and caramel malts are also present. Similar flavours with a foamy mouth-feel and a little CO2 prickle. Long coffee and pine linger. OK.
