OG 1108, FG 1026, Color 388.7 EBC, Chinook and Saaz hops. Bitterness 93.5 EBU.

Stronger version of a Baltic Porter. Comparable with an Imperial Stout but without the heavily roasted malt character. This created a soft beer with strong hops in the finish.

When you get to this end of the spectrum, you’re splitting hairs if you think you could compare something of this quality. Sure they may be some beers that are better but seriously this is as top as they come. Dark black with some brown colouring under the light and a thick, nice lacy, brown, lasting, head. Smells of deep and delicious malt with roast, chocolate, dark berry (red grapes - prune) which adds a sourness, vanilla, lots of liquorish, and some alcohol spirit elements like a rye with spices that adds to the body as well. Smooth silky full oily body with no carbonation. Tastes similar to the smell; very sweet at first with a bitter lasting finish. Tastes of liquorish and dark fruit with sweet and roasted malt – smoky/ash, soya sauce and wood. The finish is dry and woody with some lingering alcohol. Need more of this in my life.

The pour’s deep brown with a large off-white head. The aroma’s of espresso, bitter dark chocolate, charred wood, roasted malt notes. The taste is sweet chocolate, wood, light vegetal. Strong hoppy, earthy finish. A bit woody. Full body, but quite smooth

Strong, smoky aroma has notes of molasses, caramel and licorice. Pours a warm sable just a snip or two above jet black with a thick and fairly persistent tan head. Mouth-filling flavor floods the palate with woody hop, molasses, licorice and caramel tones. Syrupy texture is none to fizzy, but nice and thick. A bold porter that will make you sit up and take notice. I weep for Boston. :_(

Aroma: burnt nuts, coffee, toasty Appearance: black, frothy, brown foam, Taste: light sweetness, medium bitterness, Palate: full body, oily feel, lively, astringent, bitter, long finish, Overall: very good imperial porter, hides its incredible abv well, stout-like qualities to it, bit too sweet in aftertaste.

Bottle. An almost opaque black beer, with a large, frothy, nearly fizzy, lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. The aroma is heavily malty (roasted grain, choclate, cocoa, coffee), with notes of vanilla, licorice, plums and alcohol. The flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Full body, creamy texture, soft/lively carbonation, semi-dry, long finish with moderate bitterness, moderately alcoholic. Almost drinkable, despite the 11% ABV, neither cloying nor excessively sticky sweet. Smooth, excellent mouthfeel. Not the most complex, but I wouldn’t call it straightforward. Thumbs up.
