OG 1108, FG 1026, Color 388.7 EBC, Chinook and Saaz hops. Bitterness 93.5 EBU.

Stronger version of a Baltic Porter. Comparable with an Imperial Stout but without the heavily roasted malt character. This created a soft beer with strong hops in the finish.

33 cl bottle bought at Vinmonopolet, Valkendorfsgt. Black with thick, light brown head that lasts for quite a while and leaves lacings on the glass. Really nice roasty aroma with chocolate, coffee and some vanilla. The taste is a nice, smoky malt sweetness with plenty of chocolate and coffee. Nice bitter, earthy hop finish. Yet another good brew from De Molen.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter. The beer itself is nearly black with a tightly wound tan froth that exists mostly as a cap on top of the beer. The aroma is not that appealing. Dark chocolate, molasses, and some bitter coffee notes provide the nice part of the aroma, but licorice and earthy hops are less interesting, and there is a metallic copper smell that hovers above everything else. The flavor is slightly better. There are no noticeable metallic notes in the flavor, leaving dark chocolate, roasted malt, smoke molasses to provide a nice front, with licorice and a moderate earthy hop finish. The flavor is a bit strange as well, and it is not something I really enjoyed. The beer feels fine on my palate. It is full, rich, chewy, and smooth, with a medium carbonation for the style. It is a little bit dry and smoky up front, and the earthy hops, coffee, and licorice, provide a kind of acrid, dry bitterness. Overall this is not a beer I would really go after trying again.

33 cl. bottle @ Hopduvel / consumed @ home: very dark brown / brown with a mocha head, smells like ashes, coffee, heavy roasted grains, burned toast, liquorish & booze, taste is lots of coffee & liquorish up front, sweet & bitter, small touch sour berries in the back, finish is very heavy & bitter roasted, lots & lots of roasted grounded coffee, lots of bitter hops, burned toast, rather harsh, feels slightly hollow, decent viscosity but not really thick, lower thickness than probably, should be, low carb. not bad but not as good as I expected it to be or anywhere near as good as the draft Bourbon BA version was

Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Pours very dark, black in glass, big big tanned head that leaves fantastic laces on the glass, after a while there is a tiny tanned head that stays on forever. Smells of yeast esters, coffee, some chocolate and roasted malts. I miss something, still quite good. Taste is quite malty, good sweetness, i find alot of coffee, some chocolate and alot of roast. Nice bitter finish, alot of malt and hops there. To thin feel for the style, still not watery. Full bodied, quite lively carbonation for an imp porter. Totally a very nice beer, but my expectations was quite high too, and i have to say there are better de molen beers out there

Pours black color with small head. Aroma of ash, chocolate, roasted malts and mild caramel notes. Flavor of ash dry chocolate, roasted malts, mild coffee notes, tar and caramel. Could easily be considered as a imperial stout.
