Stronger version of a Baltic Porter. Comparable with an Imperial Stout but without the heavily roasted malt character. This created a soft beer with strong hops in the finish.

Black body light brown head. Aroma of roasted malty candy, some chocolate. Flavour is really intense with ash, chocolate, coffee and lots of roasted malts.

Draught at De Molen, Bodegraven, the Netherlands.
Pitch black colour with big fluffy tan head. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and mild vanilla sweetness in aroma. Strong coffee, roasted malt, chocolate sweetness and ash in flavour. Strong bitterness in aftertaste. Strongness takes the breath away.

Smaller green bottle with red wax. Poured dark brown with little tan head that retained. Very roasty malt upfront with a long roasty, bitter and alcoholic finish. Very interesting.

Vintage bottled on 12/3/2009. 18 cl bottle # 1314. The beer pours to a really dark cola colored body with a thin cola like head. The aroma is huge on the sweet chocolate truffles, molasses, and prunes. The flavor and palate is where this beer excels. Very robust body that’s thick but not at all sticky. Deeply roasty malts overpower once you swallow the sweet chocolate and prunes concoction that is up front. There’s a deep dry charcoal and woody type of flavor on the finish. The palate is soft and super easy to drink. I’d have never guess so high an ABV the alcohol fermented so cleanly.

Pours dark chocolate into a snifter. Mocha head with excellent retention recedes leaving spider lacing to coat surface. Dark pit fruit and chocolate aromas. Sweet chocolate and espresso upfront turning to dark caramel covered pit fruit. Lasting espresso finish.

Bottle 18cl from DeMolen biershop. Not sure same description, label has other hops as Challenger and Saaz and a 10%abv: Bottle 709 of 1344.
