OG 1108, FG 1026, Color 388.7 EBC, Chinook and Saaz hops. Bitterness 93.5 EBU.

Stronger version of a Baltic Porter. Comparable with an Imperial Stout but without the heavily roasted malt character. This created a soft beer with strong hops in the finish.

330ml bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours a big light brown head which turns into a creamy upper layer. Medium lacing. Opaque dark brown body, almost black. Aroma is complex. I sense coffee, liquorice, dark chocolate, soy sauce, toffee and toasted bread. Quite sweet in the nose. Sharp and bitter on the tongue at first, then becomes sugar-like. The sweet aftertaste lasts a loooong time. Excellent palate, very creamy. I’m not usually into porters, but this is one is fantastic!

From tap @ BBF 2014. Pours dark brown to black with a moderate, beige head. Aroma is sweet with notes of dark fruits, plums, olives, light caramel and possible some light chocolate. Flavor is sweet and bitter with a long duration, olives, honey, roasted malt, sticky.

Bottle. Label has no "Imperial Porter" line on it. This beer just appeared on the local shelves recently but the one I got today was bottled over a year ago. I wonder where they kept it all this time? So I guess I am rating an aged sample now. Dark brown body with a minimal head. Aroma has smoked almonds, scotch and medium smoky roast. I am already drooling. Oily mouthfeel. Taste reflects the aroma. Very good. I would like to try a lighter version of this beer too - that would be a regular "Baltic Porter" then?

Pours pitch black. Minimum thick head. Nose is superb, sweet with dried friuts like raisin, plums and cherries. Taste is initially thin then flavours like the nose with bitter finish. Perfect body, oilish and thick. Love this beer, as usual from De Molen.

Bottle from Cornelius. Woompa yes indeed sir. Big velvet monster tickling the senses. Boozy choco coke raisin plum. Soft palate subtle fizz tingles. What better way to while away a train journey surrounded by business bores.
