Stronger version of a Baltic Porter. Comparable with an Imperial Stout but without the heavily roasted malt character. This created a soft beer with strong hops in the finish.

330ml bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours a big light brown head which turns into a creamy upper layer. Medium lacing. Opaque dark brown body, almost black. Aroma is complex. I sense coffee, liquorice, dark chocolate, soy sauce, toffee and toasted bread. Quite sweet in the nose. Sharp and bitter on the tongue at first, then becomes sugar-like. The sweet aftertaste lasts a loooong time. Excellent palate, very creamy. Iím not usually into porters, but this is one is fantastic!

Bottle at home. Aroma is malt, caramel, hops, overripe fruits, pears, prunes, apricots, notes of chocolate and molasses, touch of alcohol. Flavour is medium to heavy sweet. Body is full, sticky mouthfeel. Good, but I expected a bit more from this, not roasty enough for my taste, yet nicely ripe fruity, on its way to being an English Barley Wine.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2016 Bottle at home. Pitch black, just some offwhite bubbles. Rich milky chocolate and coffee, butterscotch, caramel, vanilla notes, not too fruity: sweet, roasted malty finish. Well balanced, long aftertaste. Firm body, low carbonation, soft mouthfeel. Like this better than their well-praised Hel&Verdoemenis.

Well thatís rather good. Looks a bit dull - nice and dark but no head whatsoever. Lots going on in the aroma: chocolate of course, but also cola, floral notes, treacle and much more. Flavour has similar complex, with some dark fruit in there, but it is the chocolate that dominates and lingers longer than for any stout I can recall.

Bottle, 33cL. Bottled 03/2013. 3 years old. Home. A very dark brown beer, nearly black, with a medium beige head ; average retention. Caramel (+) nose, candied fruits, roast, light prune, nutmeg, black chocolate note, alcohol. Medium sweet, round, warming, light to medium dry bitter. Full body, thin texture, light oily, soft carbonation to flat, sweet nutmeg warming lasting finish. Overall, a good strong ale ; too much caramel ; a bit rough around the edges.

Bottle. Does this world need a 11% impy porter? No! So I will rid the world of this bottle. Very dark with some amber highlights. A tan head leaves sticky lacing. An earthy, cocoa aroma. Big rich very sweet malts are tasted. Just a little fruit under that and mild bitterness. Again, huge sweetness. A little dark fruit. This is like drinking a liquoer. So thick and smooth, velvety even. Brown sugar and cooca. This is not beer for someone on a diet! Despite the listed ABV I donít taste it at all. Really sweet and fortunately I like sweet beers. Really good.
