OG 1108, FG 1026, Color 388.7 EBC, Chinook and Saaz hops. Bitterness 93.5 EBU.

Stronger version of a Baltic Porter. Comparable with an Imperial Stout but without the heavily roasted malt character. This created a soft beer with strong hops in the finish.

#449 bottled nov 1, 2007. dead flat pour. super dark and viscous rich porter shade of black. the aroma is amazing...bourbon-like notes of spice, rich caramel, florals along with ash, chocolate, smoke and red grapes. the flavor is the same but with a noted vinous tartness and tannic finish. it is sticky and wonderful yet really dry and chalky. roasty, smoky, ashy aftertaste is amazing. i don’t care if it is flat... this is incredible!5+

ooo-mazing. so great...it is strong but restrained, rich and bold yet clean and delicious. Black, dark roasted malt and super epic mouthfeel and palate was perfection. Loved every sip

A lush & dense stout, with layer after layer of coffee, licorice, chocolate, plum, caramel, maple syrup and oily hops. Keeps unfolding. In the finish there is more black fruit, along with vanilla and roasty bitterness. Great length; unmatched intensity, yet soft-edged and rounded; it is full-bodied and pours like ink. Spectacular.

I drank this beer at the brewery in Bodegraven (lovely brewery and also restaurant) and at home in a bottle. This is really the best dutch porter. I don’t know how the brewer does it, but it’s really fantastic. Chocolate, caramel, roasted mocha, little bit sweet powerful hop aroma

At the brewery pub. A dark black colored beer, with a great thick foamy beige head. It leaves a nice lace on the glass. The aroma of pure chocolate and coffee, dark, dried fruits. The taste is also from pure chocolate and coffee, dark fruits like prune. That makes it a nice little sweet. It has a long little bitter aftertaste. A very good beer. This one belongs with the best beers.

Seriously. It doesn’t get much better than this. This imperial porter is smooth, tasty and balanced like Philippe Petit. I would bath in this beer if I could.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2011 [Bottle @ RBESG 2009, Grand Tasting] Lovely black color with a small but dense dark brown head. Strong aroma of roasted malt, coffee, caramel, some licorice and milk chocolate. Again roasted malt flavor, enriched by ripe plums, licorice, coffee, vanilla, caramel and lots of chocolate, and some molasses. Very lasting aftertaste. Highly enjoyable. Everytime I drink this I want to add extra points. Great beer.

bottle 0564, bomb asss extra from thickfreakness, thanks a ton! nice opaque dark brown pour with a late rising layer of light brown head that sticks around in a ring and sheeting the whole way through. the aroma is super spicy, yeasty, light yet with an oily heavyness, and a nice hop profile shows up as well. the taste and palate are so perfect on this, excellent example of what an importer should be. nice and spicy, smooth, a lingering lager yeastiness, nice hop presence, with a bit of fruitiness showing up very nicely.

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2012 An aged 75cl bottle, originally bought from De Molen. Reddish/Dark with little head and an aroma of fudge. Beautiful sweet fudge taste, one of the best beers I’ve ever had.
