DSG (867), Yuvalim, Israel Apr 1, 2008 (3/16/08) Bottle bought at Brouwerij de Molen in Bodegraven and drank at a friends’ house in Amsterdam. Black color, not totally opaque, with no head and just a bit of brown foam. Strong aroma of dark chocolate, some espresso notes, a bit of licorice, a bit of hops and faint hints of alcohol. Flavor starts sweet with malt, chocolate, caramel and a bit of dark fruits and finishes with a strong hops and roasty bitterness. Full-bodied and syrupy, maybe even a bit like melted chocolate. Really great stuff.
oh6gdx (6339), Vaasa, Finland Sep 28, 2008 Bottled@Fonefan. A perfect ending to two very nice days around in Ulfborg! Very dark rubyish brown colour (close to black) with small creamy brown head that stays for a while. Aroma is raisins, smoked wood, some peat, mild smoke as well as some slight fruityness. Flavour is roasted malts, coffee, licorice, alcohol as well as some mildly smoked wet wood. Really complex and wellbalanced. Fullbodied. Rciesla (871), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Sep 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours a black brown body with no head. Coffee nutty brown, peanuts and dry minerals. Aroma is dark malt-roasty, slight vegetal, dark fruit. Taste is vinuous, dark malt-roasty, slight vegetal, dark fruit, some salt/acidic. Thanks dkachur/Dan for sharing. DA (2474), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Aug 13, 2008 RBSG 2008. Pours dark brown with a soft tan head that fades fast. Very smoky and earthy, heavy burnt flavors give an impression of BBQ’d steak, some charred hefty concoction. Finish has a touch of saltiness, that when mixed with the charred flavors brings out a touch of soy sauce. Immy (1583), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Aug 11, 2008 Richmond Summer Gathering. Bottled 1NOV07, #458, courtesy of dkachur. Black with no head. Mild nose, roasty malt, chocolate, raisin, a whiff of smoke. Excellent body - slick and satiny. Slightly burnt malt flavors, chocolate and a touch of licorice. Just a bit of saltiness in there somewhere. Excellent!
