3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Rune (6125) - Tromsø, NORWAY - APR 25, 2013
750ml 2011 celebration bottle, brewed for fonefan. Bought at Vinmonopolet Vika in Oslo a while ago. Topped by a champagne cork holder. Initially huge and dense beige head. Clear rosewood coloured body. Malt-fruity aroma of roasted dark malts and fruity hops added by a basement touch. Fine blended taste of dark fruits and dark malts joined by a touch of bitter anise. Very smooth, bittersweet tail. Well bodied and well made. Good drinking. Cheers to C&J (shared at a rating session in Tromsø, 23.04.2013).
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 caesar (3943) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - APR 18, 2013
Bottle, June 6th 2011. So not the freshest one, but I’ve had it fresh back then as well. Hazy brown color, big brownish head. Aroma is a bit grassy, rye bread, caramel, some pine. The hops have faded for the most, as well as the nice roasty and grainyness. This definitely doesn’t age well in aroma, but that was not something to be expected. In taste more roast, which has developed in time. The fruity bitterness remains, some berries have added up. In taste it feels a bit older, more port and madeira like, than it was before, but still has the bitterness from hops and dark malts. Finishes a bit harsh and dry, as was before. The beer has completely changed over time, but unexpectedly it has developed in a quite nice and complex brew, yet a bit unbalanced. Then again, this beer most likely was not meant for aging. Rating will be a mix for what I can remember and what this bottle was like.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jbeatty (505) - New York, USA - MAR 15, 2013
Bottle from de Molen shop, 03/15/2013. Pours deep dark brown, huge rocky off-white head, retention for days, sudsy lacing left over. Aroma of orange marmalade and piney hops, tropical notes, dark roast backbone with light chocolate, toffee. Taste noticeably more roast character, a bit of smoke, round chocolate, lighter citrus hops, caramel with bitter medium piney finish. Medium palate, nice balance. Not bad, still drinking good and tasty, but hops are fading in the taste.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TET (1094) - FINLAND - MAR 15, 2013
A colablack beer with a huge, beige and cloudy head. Aroma is balanced and nice. Roastiness, liquirice and some chocolate from the black side, then IPA is there with citrus and some pine forest. Taste of liquirice, roastiness, lots of citrusfruity bitterness, some salty salt liquirice. The aftertaste is dry, bitter with some roasted coffee. Lots of carbonation, medium bodied and fresh to drink. Citrusfruity freshness balancing the black world, succesfully balance.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 snzcujo (274) - RUSSIA - JAN 8, 2013
Tasted from the bottle, on 08/01/2013.
Pours of nicely black with an incredible creamy foam that lasts quite a long time.
Aroma is amazing, very intense and complex, with interesting citrusy/fruity tones, slightly grassy in the end.
Taste follows aroma upfront, but having pleasant malty sweet note as well.
Aftertaste is both roasty and hoppy.
Citrus wave dominates aroma and taste, which is lovely, but a bit unbalanced.
Recommended.

Bottle bought at the shop in Bodegraven. Sweet and malty smell and taste. Thin body and medium carbonation. Medium carbonation. I think this has gotten a bit old since the hops where not there. But still a nice beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jaghana (2829) - Strasbourg (France), FRANCE - OCT 5, 2012
Thanks to Jan & Charlotte for this bottle, ouahh De Molen did a beer for you, respect !
A dark beer with medium head and a very roasted nose, imperial stout like.
Aroma is very roasted, lot of dark malt and also huge amount of aromatic hops, body is typically De Molen like, mangoo, coconut, dark chocolate, exotic fruits, lichee, quite sweet, bit alcoholic. This is not what I enjoy must but a well done beer anyway.
