Flaske 0,75l. Eik?. Blir veldig tørr etter hvert.

Bottle, 33cl. It looks quite clear, but then it’s next to black in color so it’s hard to tell. A small, light beige head sits on top. There’s a distinct orange touch in the aroma, with coffee and some roasted malts. It has a nice bitterness in the mouth, with flavors of orange peel, coffee and roasted malts. Dry, full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated, finishing roasted and bitter. For some reason I left this bottle in my cellar for quite some time, but it seems to keep well, as it still tasted nice and Black IPA-ish. 130308

330 ml bottle at home - pours deep brown with a light beige head, fine bubbles. Spicy hot aroma, pine hops. Medium body with lots of piny hops and roasty notes as from the middle. Medium dry finish. Taste is roasted malts and grass. Special beer!

Brown to black, light brown head. Aroma has liqourice, roasted malts, sweet dark candy. Ash. No hops present, maybe bit too old.

330 ml bottle. Bottled June 6th 2011. (De Molen) Bodegraven, the Netherlands.
Looks: Black. Mild tan head. Aroma: Hops. Berries. Malt. Dryness. Flavour: Bitter hops. Malt. Liquorice. Not very good Black IPA. Not fundamentally wrong just missing something. Cheers Jan! You would’ve deserved a better one...

Cold bottle. Over 2 years old. Pours opaque brown with a typically large head. Smell - a bit of nail varnish, spice, sweet soy, maybe some liquorice and coffee. Taste - caramel and toffee, orange with an ashy finish. Mid body, slightly foamy. Enduring spicy finish. Good lacing. Reminds me of some of the German Dopplebocks I’ve had recently. Decent beer.

750ml 2011 celebration bottle, brewed for fonefan. Bought at Vinmonopolet Vika in Oslo a while ago. Topped by a champagne cork holder. Initially huge and dense beige head. Clear rosewood coloured body. Malt-fruity aroma of roasted dark malts and fruity hops added by a basement touch. Fine blended taste of dark fruits and dark malts joined by a touch of bitter anise. Very smooth, bittersweet tail. Well bodied and well made. Good drinking. Cheers to C&J (shared at a rating session in Tromsø, 23.04.2013).

Bottle, June 6th 2011. So not the freshest one, but I’ve had it fresh back then as well. Hazy brown color, big brownish head. Aroma is a bit grassy, rye bread, caramel, some pine. The hops have faded for the most, as well as the nice roasty and grainyness. This definitely doesn’t age well in aroma, but that was not something to be expected. In taste more roast, which has developed in time. The fruity bitterness remains, some berries have added up. In taste it feels a bit older, more port and madeira like, than it was before, but still has the bitterness from hops and dark malts. Finishes a bit harsh and dry, as was before. The beer has completely changed over time, but unexpectedly it has developed in a quite nice and complex brew, yet a bit unbalanced. Then again, this beer most likely was not meant for aging. Rating will be a mix for what I can remember and what this bottle was like.
