Ughsmash (5824) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - APR 24, 2012
Bottled. Poured cola brownwith a tall, quick-forming khaki head. The aroma picked up nutty notes, molasses, and dark fruit, with accents of juniper berries and some sort of funky, exotic citrus rind.. airy overall, with a hit of oxidation on the back of the nose. The flavor found light, sour oak and metallic notes throughout.. toasted nuts and licorice at the core (more licorice toward the back).. finished with tacky bitterness and more of the sour funkage. Medium-bodied with a fuller feel on the palate due to high carbonation.. this didn’t have a poor feel and flow to it, but something wasn’t quite right.

berlinoise2go (379) - NORWAY - MAR 23, 2012
Bottle (75cl) from Vinmonopolet (Vika), Oslo. Huge, light beige head with good retention, collapsing unevenly, leaving quite a bit of lacing. Hazy, very dark brown colour. Complex aroma dominated by hops and roasted malt, with grapefruit, licorice, caramel, chocolate, raisin. Medium body, soft carbonation. Extremely well-balanced taste, unifying the malty sweetness, hop bitterness and citric acidity. Long-lasting, dry finish.
