bottle thanks to Edo... dark muddy brown, a bit ugly, no head at all... smells really nice, molasses, super malty rounded out by some great bourbon, integrated nicely, reminds me of a really good Kuhnhenn malt bomb... wow, the taste is an utter fail, very fruity, oranges, caramel, a bit of bourbon but this is just so sweet its hard to drink...pass

(bottled 1/9 April 2011; bottle 688) Brown, no head. Smells sour. First taste is sweet. Have I got syrup? Texture is really sticky, and there’s no carbonation at all. I get some sour aromas and tiny amount of hops, but everything goes under massive taste of sweetness. I guess this could become better by putting the bottle to wine cellar for 10 years, but in all honesty I don’t think even that will make this my favourite.

Bottle at ’t Arendsnest. Darkish brown with some bubbles atop. Vanilla, marcipane and alcoholic aroma. Chocolate marcipane flavours, some port notes. Full-bodied. Works wonders.

Bottle thanks to bierkoning. Poured amber with a white head. Aroma and flavor were caramel and brown sugar. Body was thick and sryupy. Not a trace of alcohol.

Bottle @ home. Aroma is massive bourbon, no need to bring your nose to the glass, the whole room is covered. Nose reveals fruit, sugar, malt and more. Flavour is deep and sweet sugary bourbon fruit goodness. I’m no fan of sweet dessert like barley wines, but the bourbon really lifts it up. Bommen en granaten was way too sweet for me, but this (while probably just as sweet) somehow isn’t. Nice.

Botted. Dark amber coloured. Dense beige head. aroma of ripe fruits, loads of sweetness and syrup, vanilla, bourbon, caramel. Flavour of sweetness, ripe frutis, alcohol, vanilla and bourbon barrel. Very smooth and quite balanced. Medium to full bodied. Ends on a sweet and spiced fruityness. Has a very light alcoholbite on the lips. Very nice beer.

Countbeer (2852) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JUN 9, 2011
Clear (?) bottle: #746/1722: A very small and quick disappearing off white lacing on top of a deep dark brown colored beer, with a ruby shine. Smell toasted malts, butterscotch, butter, hint of alcohol, whiskey, toffee, peat. Taste is a mix of sweets, whiskey, alcohol, some darker fruits, raisin, spices, butterscotch, caramel, hops, nuts, toffee, malts and barleys. Low to no carbo, silky mouthfeel, full body and a sticky light oily texture. A tiny bit unbalanced, too sweet, but overal a good beer.
