Bottle at FoCo Stout Tasting 2013, courtesy of Aaron. Thanks man! Really werid aroma - wet dog, cardboard, bread, bourbon, caramelly, and earthy aroma. Taste is sweet, brandy-ish, caramel, toffee, light cardboard, tangy, dark fruits, licorice, and bread. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Meh.

Bottle @ Armin’s palace picked up at De Molen. Pours a murky dark reddish orange appearance with a thin head. A bit goopy caramel, somewhat fruity, a bit herbal/celery, tangy aroma. Syrupy caramel, red fruity, herbal, goopy, a bit boozy whiskey, lightly oxidized flavor. Not the best and kind of disappointing.

Pour out of nip bottle, big thanks to Aaron! Clear dark red pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of big oak, vanilla, slight earth into a bit of wood, hints of caramel, nice. Taste is a mix of caramel, toffee, oak and vanilla, slight earthy note, hints of spice, finishing bitter, dry, there is something weird about it that I can’t put my fingers on.

Mjuk och mumsig. Helt underbar. Världsklass. Tankarna far åt gamla Thomas Hardys när dom är i fin form men den här är så mycket tyngre. Blir nostalgisk. De Molen levererade världsklass en gång i tiden. Komplex fudekola i doft och smak. Pröjsade 120kr för en flarra. Snacka om fynd!

18 cl bottle @ home. Pours dark reddish amber with some sediment and an off-white head that leaves almost no lacing. Aroma and flavour is dried fruit, bourbon, vanilla, and caramel – with a bitter and alcoholic finish.

Bottle (180 ml). Extra from Gothgargoyle, huge thanks Sir! Hazy orange/brown with a small quickly diminishing beige head and no lacing. Aroma is really complex and exactly what I expect from a bourbon barrel Barley Wine... toffee, bourbon, vanilla, wood, raisins, figs, nuts, port notes... amazing! Taste is moderately sweet (not cloying), fruity at first and the a blast of toffee, bourbon, figs, plus, raisins, oak, vanilla and light bitterness. Warming alcohol, but not harsh at all. Full bodied. Low carbonation. Sirupy mouthfeel. That’s a kind of Barley Wine that I really enjoy. Amazingly complex! Great sipper!
