Bottle Golden color, hazy. Smoky tarry aroma, cigars. Initial malt flavor overpowered by smoky notes. beechwood, tar, lapsang souchong, cigars. Almost full bodied. Slightly alcoholic. Very much a tasting beer, the drinkability is limited.

Torfmalziger Antrunk mit deutlichem Whiskeyaroma. Vollmundig, trocken, dennoch süffig. Komplexe Rauchnoten mit mittelstarker Bitterkeit, holzig, zwischenzeitlich hell malzig. Vanille-holziges Ende, weiterhin torfig, nun etwas stärker bitter. Minimale Säure zum Ende, spritzig. Wirklich gut! 10/11/12/12/12/12

33cl bottle (bottled on July 2nd, 2012) picked up at the De Molen bottle shop pours with a clear copper body and gold hues that support a tall light tan head of foam. The aroma is straight up smoke and band-aid plastic with hints of malts off in the background that help create a slight alderwood sensation. The taste is similar with smoky rauchness nuanced by plastic and band-aid where you’re kind of waiting for it to get into that yummy bacon infused smokiness but it never does and leaves mild smoke and less than mild band-aid behind. Still, I’m drinking all of it and enjoying it as well. 9.9%, that’s hidden very well. I would drink this again if it was free but. . .

33cl bottle @ home. Hazy dark orange color, small off-white head. Smell malts, smoke and fingerpaint. Taste malts, caramel, smoke, fingerpaint I used as a kid in school, something which remembers me of oil but mostly that fingerpaint. Medium body and carbo. Not my cup of tea.

Bottle from De Molen online shop. Dark brown body with slight head. Nose is smoky, oily, of cigars and tar. Taste is similar with plenty of cigars, oil, peat, ham and more smoke. Very silky, smooth texture. Enjoyable to try.

33cl, new exclusive Dutch brew Anno 2012, from Melger’s Haarlem, complex smoked brew, floral/sweet and slightly smoked/fruity, not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, rocky head, good brew

33cl Bottle at UDRBM. Hazy amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of huge woody smoke, peat, birch, earth, Lapsang. Flavour is dry, rather bitter, lots of light tarry smoke, birch wood, light floral malty sweetness, firm woody bitter and light salty smokey finish. Medium-bodied, great but very aggressive beer.

Bottle: Big beige colored head, changes very slow, on top of a deep hazy darker orange amber colored beer. Smell leather, smoked malts, some hints of soap, fruit (peach and apricot) and some hoppy floral tones. The taste is quite intense: grains, bitters, smoke, spices, at first a close to nasty grainy bitterness but after a short while it disappears, there is fruits, muhrooms, stone, fungus, hint of hops, leaves, a dryness and smokey malts. Aftertaste is bitter, grainy, fruity and hoppy, like a normal tripel. Medium carbo, spicy and lightly blown mouthfeel, good medium body and a creamy texture. Strange beer, strangely balanced typical triple with some smokey smell and different and strange taste. strange but not bad!

Bottle at UDRBM. Hazy golden pour, thin white head, Aroma is spicy and smokey, a hint of bacon and somewhat chemical. Flavor is bitter spicy, loads of smoke and quite dry. Harsh but very interesting. Nice brew.
