2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle 330ml. @ home.
Hazy medium amber orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, wood, oak, smoke, plastic, band-aid, tarpaulin - pressening, moderate hoppy, grass. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, sweet riped fruit, yeast, plastic smoke, sharp, band-aid. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is fizzy - soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. IMO. NOT DE MOLEN standard at all ;O(

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
0,33 l bottle, De Molen shop.
Poured hazy-murky brown/deep amber with a creamy off white sculpture head. The smoke dominates the aroma, burnt wood and ash, earth. Some caramel and malt, light yeast in the background, some vanilla. Lively carbonation, some sourish yeast before the peat and ash arrives. Burnt wood, smoke, tobacco dominates the flavor too. Too much smokiness for me.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
I like smoked beers, but this one has such a strong smokiness that it’s a little unpleasant. Drinking it is like walking through a burning house.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a slightly cloudy orange beer with a small off-white head. Aroma is smokey and sweetish. Taste is mainly sweet with a bitter aftertaste. A little bit disappointed by this one. Possibly the smokiness ruins a potentially good tripel, although it lacks in carbonation.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
courtesy of fiulijn - pours a cloudy dark orange beer with a persistent and solid white foam; some light malty smokyness; fizzy and assertive, astringent and full-bodied; residual sugars, notes of oranges under a fair smoke presence and esters; very tasty

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled, July 2nd 2012, large sample. Slight hazy golden to amber color, huge rocky off-white head. Left yeast depot in the bottle. Aroma has sweet caramel malt, quite some peaty smoked notes, wood, soft spicy yeast, orange, pear. Quite dry in taste, spiciness of the yeast comes through more, together with the wood from the smoked malts. Also decent bitterness. Quite high in carbonation, but that’s fine for a triple and without getting too heavy on the stomach. I think the spicy triple and the smoke do not really blend together that nice. The caramel malt, which would hurt a regular triple, does a good job in bringing the two different styles together a bit more. Otherwise the drying edge the smoke gives plus the dryness from a triple would make it even too dry perhaps. Nice to try on a smoked triple though.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
The head is good, the body a bit brown. It smells smoky, strange, sweet, a bit like fish. The taste is interesting, malty, hoppy, creamy, fishy-smoky. Overall a bit strange, not my favourite smoked beer. 11/8/7/8/11/8

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Corked bottle from De Molen beershop, Bodegraven, bottled 2 July 2012
Muddy dull amber color with generous frothy head. The aroma is a bit feety, there is some malt, wood boards, but also a light freshness. Too much carbonation; good body, moderate sweetness for malt and caramel flavor, with a hint of toffee, delicate smoke, a bit too much yeast, correct bitterness with some spices.
Not bad, but dirty.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Orange, murky. Smoked birchwood, caramel malts on nose. Not overpowering smokyness, but still assertive. A bit of yeastyness there as well. Body is quite full. dry, but with sweet malts. Smoke, malts. As it lingers, belgian yeastyness starts to confront my palate, taking hold. Interesting brew. A lot of smoke, but the pale maltiness and yeasty flavours are there, especially on the palate and finish. Interesting..
