3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Darkish brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is richly malty, and the flavour is rich, roasted and malty. Overall a nice rich and roasted beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle (Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam)
Deep red, large brief head. Slightly sour fruity aroma, tart berries.
Cakey palate - malts and spices up the nose. Sharp taste. Rich malty
body, some dates, but some soap too. Finish sharp and with biting
hops. A little bit disappointing, didnít have the fullness of body I
was hoping for in a doppelbock, and the sourness akin to tart berries
was too prominant.

Bottle.Is this really a Dopplebock?
Cloudy and slightly spicy.Quite lively coming out of the bottle but didnít actually explode. Some maltiness and quite well balanced but nothing very inspiring. Pleasant but I expected better.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
11.2 oz. bottle. My mom picked this up for me at the brewery during her trip to the Netherlands circa May 2008 (i.e., thereís well over a year of aging on this bottle). Thanks, Mom! Appealing, very complex, very juicy, floral aroma. Plum, apple cider, red wine, cigar tobacco, salt, and a touch of caramel in the smell. Pours an effervescent, deep, reddish copper. The liquid is mostly clear with a touch of cloudiness. Many small bubbles. Large amount of uneven, light tan head. Looks very cool. The taste is much more dry and bitter than the aroma suggests, but it still has that sweet juiciness. The complex flavor suggests darker fruits than does the aroma: heavy plum, dark cherry. Also dark chocolate and a bit of smoke. Coffee with cream and sugar. Some milkiness arrives late. Lightly bitter aftertaste. Sharp in both taste and texture. Medium body. Lively and crisp in the palate, as a good lager should be. Very good beer overall.

Botella, courtesy of yespr. As it was opened 1/3 of the beer just exploded out of the bottle. Quite sour dark malty caramel aroma with spice. Murky dark brown colour with floaties. Sweet malty sourly infected flavour with dark malts and spice. Infected big time..............

This beer had a best before stated as
but that is clearly not the case.
aroma of licorice, sourness, spices.
flavor is sour, strange spices , infected.
my stumach actually reacted to rating about 1/4 of the 33cl bottle, this one is seriously infected. taste is not good.
underneath the undrinkable infected flavors i detect a nice beer actually, mustíve been good fresh.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle shared by mreusch. Pours a cloudy, muddy, light brown with a thin beige head. It smells unlike and doppelbock Iíve ever sampled: spicy, herbal and yeasty notes over a dark, sweet, bready malt (almost a pumpernickel-like) backing. Light to medium-bodied and soft with a spicy and mineral finish. Soft, yet lightly grainy, the flavor follows the nose with a spicy/herbal finish. This beer tastes absolutely nothing like any other doppelbock Iíve ever tried, but itís a decently interesting brew. Thanks for sharing it with us, Matt.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
bottle, small head, dark see-through liquid. not nearly as good as most other brews from de molen. no lasting flavors, and not too complex. pretty drinkable nonetheless.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle [Courtesy of yespr, thanks buddy] Small off-white like fizzy head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Hazy brown color. Aroma of fruit mixed with light bread, mild yeasty and strong notes of acidic. Medium bodied, lively carbonation and light alcoholic texture. Moderated sweet and sour flavor. Malty and sour finish.
