3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
0.33 L bottle as ”De Molen Dubbelbock”. Pours a clear ruby-shaded brown body with a brief ashy-blond head. Rich malt aroma, Nutty, gently roasted with dark bread tones. Full malt body. Sweet, yet clean. Caramel tones, dark bread and nuts, and a fine fruitiness reminiscent of raisis and dates. Balancing bitterness. Healthy body. Soft oily mouthfeel. Clean sweetish malty ending. A well-crafted and tasty true-to-the-type Dopplebock.

Pours a murky brown color with no head. Aroma of brown sugar, dried fruits, nuts and sweet caramel malts. Taste is nutty with some caramel malt, wood and a slight bitterness on the finish. Very smooth and slick mouth feel for a 7.7 beer.

Clear brown, small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts and black fruit. Taste is black fruit (blackberry), roasted malts, wood, lychees, hop bitterness, caramel malts. Very complex taste, every sip seems to have a new flavour. Makes it a very nice beer to drink.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
330ml bottle, as Dubbelbock, at VertsHuset Skarven in friendly company with Loz, her mother, Fin and Finn. Pours a lasting, white head over a cloudy amber coloured body. Nose is mostly malty, semi-sweet and semi-dry. Malty sweetness to the taste buds alongside moments of dried fruits. The alcohol is surprisingly present. Quite possible to drink, however rather disappointing in a De Molen context (Tromsø, 19.01.2013).

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Flaske 0,33l som Dubbelbock på vertshuset Skarven 16 Jan 13. Dyp brun. Litt hissig. Veldig høyt luftig skum som varer nesten evig. Danner en skumtopp i midten.Litt lacing. Bra krydderaroma. Smaken er litt fruktig. Mørke plommer. Også litt krydderpreg her. Blir syrlig etter hvert. Tørr bitter avslutning med innslag av tørket frukt.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at home. The colour is clear amber with a frothy medium light beige head. Medium carbonation. Aromas of roasted almonds, sweet and caramel malt, nuts, oak and fudge, and a touch of dark berries. Sweet and malty flavours of leather, caramel and more oak. A rich and soft mouthfeel, and a surprisingly medium bitterness. A rich and flavourful doppelbock, but I would prefered less bitterness. Would be great with meaty dishes.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
No head but an of white beige lacing on top of a hazy dark amber orange colored beer.
Seems a bit carbo less, let’s see:
The aroma’s that I can smell in this beer are as follows: prunes, barleys, ostmeal, hints of wood, raisin and liquorice wood.
Taste prunes, raisin, barleys, bitters, liquor, malts, hint of oatmeal and a soft bitterness. Not much else.
Aftertaste of barley malts with raisin and prune tones and some bitters.
Low carbo, soft light watery mouthfeel, medium body and a texture between watery and creamy.
A bit strange and unbalanced.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bitterness and honey all over the place. A little disappointed, because this one had been waiting for me in my cellar for some time...

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
33 cl bottle.
Pours brown with almost no foam head, very low carbonation.
When I compare my tasting with other tasting notes (monster foam head etc...) I can say De Molen has difficulties to homogeneize his second fermentation in bottle (strange...)
Anyway, this malty brew is very tasty and respts the Doppel Bock style: very malty, caramel notes and a clean bitterness in aftertaste.
