ontario102 (794), Boise, Idaho, USA Aug 28, 2007 Sampled at Chris_o’s Shindig: funky, dusty maltiness; some chocolate notes; heavy caramel; on the sweet side, but OK.
thebeertourist (1889), Oslo, Norway Sep 28, 2008 Bottle. Morello red with a nice tan head. Tart fruit aroma, oranges. Flavours show some bitterness and roast, hints of chocolate offsetting tart fruit. Well-balanced. Interestingly different bockbeer. MiP (6029), Flensburg, Germany Sep 3, 2008 Bottle, 8.3%. Farty, vinous aroma, sweet and slightly roasted. Hazy dark brown colour, no head. Buttery toffee notes. Quite roasted. Light chocolate, chocolate drink powder flavour. Very low carbonation. Strange. Luckily I have another bottle in my cellar. KimJohansen (4299), Copenhagen V, Denmark Aug 4, 2008 Hazy brown with tiny off white head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel and dark fruits. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, milk chocolate and caramel notes. Ends sweet. Lacks carbonation but still delicious. thewolf (3983), Kolding, Denmark Jun 2, 2008 Bottle. [thank you Skortila/Caesar]
Pours deep red with a fine, medium, frothy yellowish head. Aroma is sweet, some toffee, caramel, raisins, light liqourice.Nice creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is subdued, nicely swseet, good rye bread, chocolate, good liqourice notes. Warming and lightly vinious, there is a malty, grainy dryness that prevents it from ended in the sticky mess most dobbelbock end up in. Nice! jerohen (1482), Bussum, Netherlands May 14, 2008 Bottled from the brewery. Dark red-brown coloured, small but lasting brown head. Nose of malts, some caramel. Caramel malty flavour, quite bitter, alcohol quite obviously present, cane sugar dominates. Complexity arises in finish, which is nice. Not a very special brew; like some other Molen brews it somehow feels immature.
