axilla (940), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 3, 2008 Courtesy of Miver. Poured a hazy amber/brown color with a foamy tan head. The aroma was sweet carmel, brown sugar, and bready yeast. Flavors are like sweetend cheerios with carmel and brown sugar mixed in and a hint of some mild dried fruits.

Pours deep red with a fine, medium, frothy yellowish head. Aroma is sweet, some toffee, caramel, raisins, light liqourice.Nice creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is subdued, nicely swseet, good rye bread, chocolate, good liqourice notes. Warming and lightly vinious, there is a malty, grainy dryness that prevents it from ended in the sticky mess most dobbelbock end up in. Nice! jerohen (1434), Bussum, Netherlands May 14, 2008 Bottled from the brewery. Dark red-brown coloured, small but lasting brown head. Nose of malts, some caramel. Caramel malty flavour, quite bitter, alcohol quite obviously present, cane sugar dominates. Complexity arises in finish, which is nice. Not a very special brew; like some other Molen brews it somehow feels immature. (Rating #1625) MartinT (4241), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 12, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Clove phenols are swept into dried fruitiness of all kinds while spicy hoppiness prepares its enduring bitterness. This is a well-organized and flavorful Bock which might remind you of a Weizenbock more than your usual Doppelbock.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the cloudy dark amber.
-The body is well fed and the carbonation rather lively.
-That finishing bitterness is stronger than the usual German-style Bocks.
-Maltiness develops caramel notes which gently hug that sprightly spicy fruitiness.
-Alcohol was nicely concealed in the flavor profile.
Bottle; thx Marc et Éric! miketd (330), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Apr 6, 2008 Thanks to joes for this brew. Pour is dark brown with amber highlights. Big, off white head and good lacing. Aroma of sweet fruit, vinuous and a little booze. Flavor is sweet with good body. finish is borderline dry.
