3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Jaksmart (357) - Aalborg, DENMARK - MAR 20, 2011
Bottle. Almost pitch black, faint reddish hue, almost no head. Aroma is very thick, no alcohol, faint roast, sweet liquorice, milk chocolate, faint oak notes, if I’m not mistaken. Also some vanilla and some dried fruits and spices. Very delicious. Taste is extremely bitter with a very dry liquorice finish, lasting quite long. The initial sugary oak sweetness is quickly dampened by the harsh finish. Strong but not boozy at all.

Tap @ BBF 2010. Wow. Absolutely blown away. Thick black pour with a small, soapy beige head. Very nice strong aroma. Couldn’t stop sniffing it. A lot of chocolate, coffee, dark chocolate with dominant salt liquorice ’’zoute drop’’. Very full body with the zoute drop again, dark fruits, chocolate and some roasted hints. Some alcohol in the taste. This beer is close to perfection. Sticky. So thick black that the lacing on the glass turned brown/black. Extreme long aftertaste which had a great mouthfeel and some roasted hints again. This is black heaven. My favorite brewery with my favorite beer (till now).

Woow! I had this on tap. It gave me a shiver when I drought the first swallow! Chocolate taste and a little bit toasty in the finish. Medium carbonation, with low persistent froth. The alcohol is very noticeable. So good.

Bottle, 180 ml. Pitch black, small dense head, oily, sticky texture. Aroma of leather, smoked sausage, coffee, dark malts. Taste is great with a subtle smokiness, bitter coffee, dried fruit. A great tasting beer.
4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 fewa (41) - Beersel, BELGIUM - FEB 26, 2011
On tap at the molen and in bottle. Color is dark black, with small brown head. Smell: Chocolate, dark fruits, soy sauce some hints of coffee and roasted malts
Taste: quite complex, spicy, sweet chocolate and dark fruits, and in the aftertaste a great, extremely well balanced salty soy taste. Alcohol is very well hidden. Mouthfeel is very thick and creamy.
The best beer from the Molen! Only stormaktsporter can beat this one
