Tap @ De Molen. Pitch black colored beer, with a thick foamy dark beige almost brown head. The aroma of coffee with vanilla, sal ammoniac with chocolate. The taste of coffee, sal ammoniac and vanilla. It starts a little sweet, moving to dry bitter. Alcohol notes in the back. The aftertaste is gentle sweet with coffee bitter and notes of vanilla.

On tap @ De Wildeman. Black color with dense brown head. Strong cognac aroma, with some chocolate, roast/coffee, wood (oak), vanilla, alcohol. Taste is somewhat sweet & alcoholic, cognac. Finishes with a good combination of bitter, roast, ash/peat & wood. A bit too cognac-y for me, but still a good big beer of course.

Burnt raisin aroma. Black in color with a solid tan head. Sweet and roasty with hints of raisin.

On tap at Jan’s Masters Division Celebration, 2nd August 2010. Near black with very little head. On the nose and in the mouth it is a wonderful blend of alcohol, oak, red wine, burnt caramel & Belgian yeast. The strength provides a firm but not fierce heat. Deserves to be savoured slowly. The pure expression of what an Imperial Stout should be.

bottle at the CCB tasting. poured thick black. aroma and flavor were super char ashy with notes of peat. body was thick and oily.

Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is medicine, a bit soy, leather, candy, fruit concentrate, sweet berries. Taste is vinous, intense sourish, spicy, extreme sour berries, caramel and roasted malts. interesting

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2010 Had this one @ CBF 2010. Black colored brew. Wonderful brew! All kinds of smooth flavors balanced together in perfect harmony in both aroma and flavor. Very smooth malty tones, coffee, dark chocolate, vanille, some wood. All blended perfectly.

On draft at In de Wildeman. Opaque black, thick brown head. Aroma has a very strong malty backbone, coffee, chocolate, hint of blackcurrant. Very complex flavor, nutty, honey, hops, fruit, this is seriously complex. Extremely longlasting finish. For an Imperial Stout not very bitter, instead it’s rather at the sweet side, which is unconventional but works out very very well. May be the best Imperial Stout i know, absolutely outstanding.

29/06/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Bevuta al De Molen beer festival. Nera, densa, impenetrabile, con schiuma color cappuccino, liquida e poco persistente. L’aroma è di una intensità davvero fuori dal comune, con note di malti tostati, caffettose, di cioccolato, vaniglia, e alcol bene in evidenza. In bocca è potentissima, caffè, cenere, vaniglia, alcol, note legnose, devastante. Corpo pieno, carbonazione corretta. Imperial Stout sorprendente, di una intensità straordinaria, terribilmente strong.
