Boiled for 20 hours to create an umami flavour. Umami is the fifth basic taste next to sweet, sour, salty and bitter. By doing so we have now a beer that’s very thick and oily with loads of roasted malts.

Dark brown/black colour. Almost no head. Strong smoked aroma. Taste is smoked and a bit watery. The taste of wood and cognac can also be distinguished.

On tap at Borefts BF ’10. Black colour, no head. Aroma is sweet, fruity, dried dark fruits, bourbon, soy sauce, hard roasted malts. Flavour is coffee, sweet, light soy sauce, dark fruits, hard roasted malts, coffee bitter finish but overall too sweet imo. Medium to fullbodied, slick mouthfeel.

Thanks to askofficerfriendly for the share. I guess we are on a thick blackness kick. Pours a dark midnight black with a small tan head. Nose is smoke, black, peat, earth, asphalt, smoke, and toast. Flavor is similar with lots of bitter from the char. Oily mouthfeel and earthy booze in the finish. Not bad.

Nip bottle, bottled on 5/3/10.. apparently only 96 bottles in the batch. Poured near-black with just about nothing going on head-wise. The aroma was very strong, with rich black malt and licorice roast topped by salty character and ash.. more and more smoke came out as it warmed.. it sort of grew on me, but I didn’t love it. The flavor found burnt, fairly generic black malt roast at the core.. big oxidation, smoked peat, and peppery notes around and throughout.. sourness, smoked malt, and sharp belly warmth in the end. Heavy-bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. this felt like it was past its prime and breaking down.

10/10 i mörkhet. Luktar syrligt, choklad. Smakar väldigt rökigt, lite jordgubbar och choklad. Lite choklad och besk eftersmak.

6oz bottle drank from a CCB snifter. Thanks? to tpd. When it takes at least 10 ba/rb to finish this beer you know there are problems... A dark brown pour, oil viscosity, no carbonation at all, very dark... The aroma is a touch hot, lots of chocolate and chemicals, not good but doesn’t show the atrocity to come... The taste at first is just a hot stout showing chocolate, the finish is horrendous. TONS of chemical tar, shows notes of chemicals and tar, this is just bad. No one could drink more than once. This is a De Molen MISS. Don’t bother, even for the tick.
