UPDATED: AUG 21, 2010 9th May 2010. Hazy dark amber beer, good creamy head. Crisp palate, a little dry. Some minerals. Piney hops with an almost minty freshness about them. Finishes light and dry. Not bad! Original rating 3.4
2nd August 2010. Fonefan in the Masters Division - Jan’s Birthday Bash.
Distinctly cloudy amber beer. Little white head. Fresh semi crisp and semi dry palate that turns a little soft. Minerally grapefruit marmalade. Creamy malt. Joins up nicely leading to a dry semi crisp finish.

750ml served in a Sam Adams perfect pint glass. A - 3 fingers of billowing foam that looks like an ice cream float. The head just sits and sits finally forming a sudsy cap. Loads of 1/4 " thick lacing. S - Bright hop aromas, lemon and mandarin citrus, melon, apples, floral, hints of lavender, fresh bread, T - Sweet malt upfront followed by citrus pith, grassy bittering hops, melon and lots of tropical fruit come through and compliment the sweet malt. A green grassy bitterness rides through mixing with a semi-powdery dryness on the finish. M - Medium body, medium carbonation, oily center, semi dry finish. I was expecting more of a Belgian IPA but this falls in the American category. Sweet malt but not too sweet. Lots of hop flavor and aroma with a decent amount of bitterness. Citrus really starts taking over as it warms. A solid IPA. Serving type: bottle 07-19-2012

Bottle from the shop in Bodegraven. It had a huge head. Fruity and hoppy on the nose. Similar taste with a yeasty aroma and note of earth cellar. Might have been a bit old.

Aroma: Tropical aroma of pineapple and lime. Light biscuity note.

Appearance: Cloudy amber body with a massive white head that holds well. Great lacing.

Taste: Grassy, caramel and sharp citrus flavours. Really hoppy. Delicious tangy lime on the finish.

Palate: Medium body with a foamy mouthfeel. Light carbonation tickle.

Overall: I’ve not had many De Molen beers, but this is easily the best one I’ve tasted. Very hoppy and full of citrus flavours.

Appearance: cloudy copper, huge pillowy white head, sudsy lace
Aroma: dry pale malt aroma, lots of hops, floral, light mustyness
Body: very carbonated body, cork could barely stay in once the cage was loosened, but not the shightest hint of gushing
Flavor: dry pale malt flavor, lots of complex hops, well balanced bitterness, nice phenolic spicyness that ties in well with the hops

750ml bottle

Pours light orange with a large bubbly head. Aroma of fruity hops, some earthy notes, soapy caramel notes and hints of lemon. Taste is quite fruity and lemony with some grassy hops and malty notes. Finish is bitter and slightly fruity with some grassy notes. Quite nice mix of American and German hops, surprisingly good and a great summer beer.
