Uma excelente cerveja. Espuma densa e cremosa. Coloração escura e amargor no ponto. Teor alcoólico perfeito para uma IPA.

Bottled 19/12/13.Pours a dark brown with a hint of red at the edges and a tan head. Aroma has light trop fruit, a little smoke, wood, light treacle. Nice aroma. Medium body, medium carbonation. Lightly sticky with some treacle, light coffee and dark choc, lemon, grapefruit, resin, bark... Solid, slightly quinine, bitter finish. Really nice balance. Good.

Teku glass. Pitch black, with big, medium-lasting, light brown head, very good lacing. Suprisingly in the beggining you can smell some tropical fruits - lychee, mango. Medium roasted malts aroma - caramel, chocolate, medium aroma of fresh mostly herbal and piney hops with some hints of citrus. Booziness is quite noticable from the beggining. Quite complex. At first you can taste some sourness from dark malts and tropical fruit sweetenss. Than bitterness from hops and roasted malts. From the middle piney and herbal hops character is dominant. In the background you can find some malty, even sweet character. Finish is semi dry with hints of sweetness. Low booze is noticable. Dry beer, medium carbonation, medium to full body, oily texture, no alcohol warmth. In overall very complex Black IPA. Good combination of hops and malts. You can smell and taste everything what is on the label. Rye malts gives it very good lacing and oily texture. Nelson sauvin males it refreshing and dry. Good balance between roasted malts and fruity, piney hops makes it quite drinkable. This beers is variation of De molen IPAs - almost juicy fruitiness (which is very characteristic for De molen) combined with roasted malts.

Bottled Dec 2013. Black, foamy brown head. Aroma - pine, mint, lime. Body - medium, light spritzy, slightly foamy. Taste - Caramel and coffee offset against potent pine, menthol and spearmint. Slightly astringent, quite sweet, not bitter. The individual flavours are OK, but overall I feel like this doesn’t come together very well.

Bottle from Cornelius. Dark brown body with a large beige head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of blackcurrant, lime and green hops. Flavour is light and zesty. Medium body with oily texture. Soft fizz. I agree with madmitch76 - this is more like a Black Saison than a Black IPA - it’s just lacking the malty, chocolate qualities of a Black IPA. The missus concurred - ’It looks like a dark beer but tastes like a light beer’.

Bottle. A dark brown beer topped by a small, dense, beige head. There’s quite a lot of orange and orange peel in the aroma, with roasted malts, caramel and some faint spiced, licorice nots. There’s a pleasant bitterness in the flavor, with orange peel, roasted malts, licorice and some caramel. Full to medium body, pleasant carbonation, and with a lasting roasted finish. Pretty pleasant this one, tasteful, and a bit strange. 140426
