2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 ThirstyBird (413) - Düsseldorf, GERMANY - FEB 11, 2013
Thank you Tim @ 1st Official Ledebronckx Barrel Aged Academie Grand Elite Tasting.
Pours a clear reddish brown with a tan head that falls to a skim. Nice lacing. Smell is cherry, rich fruit, some caramel. The taste comes up a little empty compared to the smell...still a little of the rich fruit but a bit watery. A little hoppy at the end. The nose was better than the beer.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 JorisPPattyn (7296) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUN 3, 2012
Extremely hyge, very fine & dense cream-brownish head over deep brown-redamber beer. Initially creamy-aromatic nose with soft dark malts. Stale chcolate cookies and cooked parsly, getting nauseating after some time. Spiced, dark(er) malts, thankfully drier than the nose suggested, but quite sweet all the same. Bitterness is virtually all but roasted. Gradually, I get a sourishness on the tongue, which I doubt to be intentional. Obviously very carbonated, spritzy. At least medium bodied. Not very convincing.

8/IV/2012 - 33cl bottle as "Peelander Zeeuwse Dubbel" @ my parents in law’s place - BB: 22/VI/13 (2012-339) Thanks to Mattie for getting me the bottle!
Clear brown beer, big creamy light beige head, unstable, little adhesive. Aroma: very sweet, liquorish, aniseed, caramel, lots of ripe banana. MF: good carbon, light to medium body. Taste: some caramel, bit of aniseed, banana, slightly bitter. Aftertaste: banana, somewhat metallic, caramel. Highly unimpressive, from Scheldebrouwerij? Really???

For some reason, this beer has a subtle smokiness to it. Caramel sweetness and medium bodied. Alcohol and malts dominate.

Bottle @ home. Dark amber color, average sized lightly creamy, off-white to beige head that leaves good lacing. Smell Malts, some caramel, overripe fruits, berries or grapes. Taste malts, sweetness and the distinct kind of bitterness that comes from peeling of overripe fruits. Medium body, average carbonation.
