COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rookop is a brown, top-fermented ale that is not sweet, with coffee in the flavour and a fine, mild bitterness. Rookop used to be brewed in the St-Joris brewery in Reningelst, Belgium until 1963 when the brewing activities stopped. The brewery was restored back to its original condition in 2012 and now functions as a meeting centre for families with children. We were asked to bring this famous beer back to life. Since the original recepy could not be recovered, a brand new beer was developed.

Alengrin (2351) - BELGIUM - OCT 3, 2014
The first beer made by a company which grows hops organically and apparently the name was taken from a beer brewed up till the sixties. Thin light beige head, very dark brown colour. Aroma of pear, fondant chocolate, a whiff of coffee, grassy hops, walnuts; dried fruits in the taste, chocolatey and nutty maltiness, light roasted coffee bitterness in the end along with herbal hop bitterness. Not bad.

Bottle(RBESG, Degustation grande, Moncada): Amber coloured, almost clear, stable off-white head; caramelly and fruity nose with very small traces of herbal hops; light to moderate sweetish-bitter flavour, relatively light bodied; slightly lingering caramelly-ffuity finish with some hops in the very end. O.K.; but surely not exciting…
