Post Borefts Tasting, Tulip Hotel Room 118. Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Airy dry palate. Sourish dark malts, sour lactose or something. Little tangy coffee. Light dry finish. Don’t like the off milky flavour here.

Bottle at the Room 118 tasting, Tulip Hotel Bodegraven, post BBF 6 day 1 26/09/14 thanks to whomever shared this one. Light black with a moderate tan covering. Nose is earthy, roast malt, light smoked. Taste comprises dark fruit rinds, spice, touch of lactics, leather. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so - doesn’t do the ABV justice.

Cremy, purely milky and the palate is perfect for the style. Dark and nice head. Very good beer

Sweet dark malts, some cacao ban acidity, English hop. mocha and generally just very wort-like (yeah... I know good description for a beer). Surprisingly rich taste, milky mouth feel and smooth carbonation that lifts up an interesting and nice sweet malt mix. Certainly enough bitterness for the style, but it is the chocolate milk body that steals the show. This all makes but a much more interesting and yet balanced beer than I expected. Really nice brew! Bottled from Biernavigatie, BB Jan/Feb 2016, large sample, served in a trappist glass. Pours a dark redbrown color with a big frothy brown head, leaving some nice lacing. Aroma of grainy oat, some milk chocolate, roast, licorice, bit too high on yeast esters (from english/irish strain I think?). Bit sweet in taste, bit bitter. Quite creamy. Spicy licorice. Leaves a sugary and sticky palate. Most oatmeal stouts turn out to be licorice bombs in the Netherlands, where I prefer them to be more clean and creamy. I think its the combination of yeast esters (too high fermentation temperature? too stressed yeast?) and roasted malts that give this high amounts of fruity and spicy licorice.

33cl bottle Appearance: almost black beer with a creamy beige head on top, ok retention light lacing. Aroma:Chocolate Milk, light roated malts, cream, oatmeal Taste: sweet roasted malts, cvreamy aroma. Cream, chocolade Milk medium body, thin carbonation. Slight sourness in the finish. Smooth drinker, but it lacks complexity, but what do you expect with a Dutch name that translates into "Pour it"
