Dark brown color, small beige head. Plum, soya sauce chocolate in the nose. Medium-bodied. Dark candy, brown sugar, spices, brownies, medicinal flavor. Quite odd, not very smokey, a bit oud bruinish.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours cloudy deep amber with a small, tan and creamy dense head. Smooth toasted malty and caramelish aroma. Smoked, ligth tarish and dark roasted malty. Peaty. Light metallic. Toasted dark malty and breadish. Ends bitter and dark smoked.

On tap at De Prael cafe/bar, Amsterdam, 02.03.12 Thanks to Rob Rob/Borresteijn for pointing me in the right direction with this beer as I had put this under De Prael Nelis though I had this version. However I must be the only person who hadn’t realised that this was a smoked beer, though on reflection I recall Loz mentioning a smokiness which clearly passed me by (too subtle maybe) This poured dark brown in colour with a tan head. There is a little bit of cocoa in mouth a touch of gritty powderyness, it is full of dark fruits, some tangy fruit skin such as dark plums, good beer. A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.5

The smoked malts and peaty character of this beer are a bit too distracting from what is otherwise and exceptional beer. Kudos for the experimentation, though.

Tap @ In De Wildeman. Dark brown color. Nice beige head. Aroma’s are sweet, caramel (even a bit sugar-y), with just a hint of smoke. Flavor is sweet & bitter with smoky notes. Medium bodied. Finishes with caramel, roast, a light bitterness. Not bad.
