0.33 l bottle from local AH as ’De Prael Weizen’, best before November 2016. Hazy, golden amber with a thin (very thin for a Weizen!), frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, yeasty-spicy and slightly fruity aroma of banana and clove as well as hints of honey and vanilla. Sweetish, yeasty-spicy, minimally fruity taste of banana, clove, vanilla, honey and straw, followed by a short, slightly bitter, minimally sourish, yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Decent, not very special but easily drinkable and refreshing.

33cl bottle picked up from the grocery store. Pours a murky light orange with visible carbonation and not much head. Smells of citrus hops and bitter hops. The taste is quite bitter and has a weird vinegar sourness. Could be an infected bottle.

Nose is fruity, flavor is banana, apple, malt. Medium sweet, slightly sourish. Finish is medium lasting light bittersweet. Medium body, thin texture, average carbonation. Easy, refreshing.

bottled, as heintje. pale golden, clear with a keen head; aroma hints at lemon zest and earhy spice, some alcohol showing; traces of vanilla and hay; not awful but unexciting

A darker weizen than usual. Aroma is not banana, but more orange peel. Taste is a little bit sweet but balanced by a light bitterness.

Gangstergafje (416) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - JUL 24, 2015
The beer is quite dark for a weizener. It is a little orange and cloudy like a normal weizener. The looks are a little more like a pilsner, but there are definitely some weizener aspects. There is a minimal amount of white foam. The smell is delicious. It has the delicious citrus smell, a little orange and a little lemon. This citrus aroma results in a sweet, bitter and sour smell, all in good balance. If you take a deep sniff, you are able to distinguish some almondy alcohol aroma’s. The taste is also very nice. There is a little by more bitterness in the taste, I think because of some hops. The taste is also sweet, and sour, very fruity and citrusy. The taste is typical for a weizener, just what you expect. Very nice.
