Nice but weak foam, some lacing. Amber colour. Very sweets aroma of fruits (plum, raisins maybe some banana). Very smooth, balanced, high drinkability, no alcohol, again a bit of fruits.

Bottle 330ml, clear orange with fast falling white head. Aroma of coriander, bananas, honey and alcohol. In taste medium sweetness with light bitterness and sourness. Very irritating extremly high carbonisation makes the beer in the begining very hard to drink. For sure not a barley wine like the lable says, but closer in taste to a home brewed Weizen.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2015 Bottle, 33cl. Pours orange with thin head of average retention but leaving nice lacing. Scents of cloves, coriander, sweet fruity wine, honey. Taste is built of dense malty sweetness, liqueur-like (guess that+high alcohol content is why they entitled it as "barley wine"), countered by very ligh bitterness. Lively carbonation but goes more flat after a while (which is good). Good body, oily and smooth. Alcohol is well hidden only very light warming feelings highlight its relatively high content. Works very fine for me, this barley winnish tripel.

Armat słodki, miodowy, lekka brzoskwinia, alkoholowe. Ładna piana, gęsta u szczytu kremowa, dość obfita, ładny lacing, widać, ze od dołu "pracuje". Kolor bursztynowy, lekkie zmętnienie. W smaku słodkie, niczym nektar, miodowe, kandyzowane owoce. Alkohol delikatnie wyczuwalny, wysycenie wysokie. Tak naprawdę to połączenie belgian strong ale i barley wine i w sumie ciekawa wariacja, ale wychodzi z tego złagodzenie obu stylów. Piwo jest mdłe, niestety. Warka do.02.2015r.

Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, toffee, butterscotch, ripe fruits, apricots, some hops. Flavour is sweet with a light bitter finish. Enjoyable.

Aroma: bread, caramel, a bit of raisins and belgian yeast. Golden colour with nice, but small head. Cloudy. Light sweetness, not very bitter. Medium body. Well hidden alcohol. Don’t know why it’s written "Barley wine" on the label. It’s definitely Belgian Strong Ale.

Like most offerings from Brouwerij de Prael, this just seems really boozy. Not a spectacular example of the style by any stretch of the imagination.

Pours pretty hazy amber with a quick disappearing white head and a decent lacing. Pretty malty aroma (caramel, cereals...). Slightly yeasty. Small notes of hops also. Some small notes of fruits as well. Tastes sweet and bitter in the beginning. Bit spicy on the tongue as well. Aftertaste goes with a strong warmish sense of the present alcohol. But it’s mainly bitterness that survives in the long run. Full bodied, thick texture and a pretty average carbonation. The beer tends to be pretty drinkable due to the bitterness. However, the warmishness in the aftertaste hints enough to let you know to be careful with this pretty ’soft’ 9.6%-beer. Dangerous tripel. Not a bad brew. Not astonishing as well. Reminds me of many other tripels.
