3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clouded, opaque red mahogany pour with a thick & dense head. Very sweet & caramel-ish. Damn sweet, in fact. Very full mouthfeel, like a cough medicine syrup but smooth enough. Extremely malty and sweet without becoming bland and uninteresting. Has a nice kick to it, since it is so smoothly drinkable yet comes in 0,5 liter bottles with an ABV that’s almost 10%. A bit too sweet and cloying but absolutely enjoyable!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled (BB 10/2007).
Hazy dark amber red color, small creamy white head. Yeasty, caramelly and fruity nose. Thick syrapy mouthfeel. Yeasty, sweetish (molasses) fruity. Some spices (coriander) there too. In the finish alcohol is evident. Like many other Dutch ales, the extra sugar is dominating. Overall this is also quite yeasty.

Thanks to Hatchy for this rare Dutch treat. Pours a hazy golden amber with a bubbly off white slightly lacing head. Aroma was fruity, caramel, corriander and other various spices. Flavors of the same, a little on the dry side with some yeast and a slight metallic thing going on.

Consumed at In de Wildeman, Amsterdam, May 2006
Golden orange color with some red hues, and a big white and tan head. Sweet nose, full of candy sugar and rose petals. Toasted sweet corn (like marzen), floral notes in the finish. Not the best example of a tripel, but it seems sweet is how it’s done in Holland. Some fruit cocktail noted in there as well at times.

500cl bottle (bb04/06). Recommened by someone at De Bierkoning in Amsterdam in June 05. Enjoyed in late February 06. Hazy golden colour with a large white lasting head leaving lacing on the glass. Sweet malty aroma. Full bodied with sweet and bitter flavours in perfect combination. Hints of acetic oranges. Warming alcohol in a rather short finish.
