Very fine brown ale. Nice balance with the alcohol and the caramel/ hay/ coffee flavor. Goes very fine with a winter dish.

Dunkelamber. Geruch malzig, ein wenig alkoholisch. Dazu ein wenig Klebstoff. Ansprechend bitter. Scharfer Nachgeschmack.

Color ambar, anaranjada turbia con mucho sedimento flotando. Escasa espuma crema. Agradable aroma a flan, bizcocho... Textura cremosa y buen cuerpo. Excelente sabor, muy equilibrado mezclando dulce bizcocho, naranja, y un final más seco. Alcohol muy oculto... Salvo el calorcito final en el postgusto... Tan rico. Muy muy buena.

0,3 l bottle, bought at Bij Thijs, Vlagtwedde. Simple but good looking label art design. Pours out in an unclear dark red brown, very small head. Fresh fruits with hop on the nose. Taste is smooth, mid hopy, fruity, melon and orange, little bit coriander. Malt in the second row. Low bitterness, little bit oily. Thin raspberry and sticky to the end. Hidden alcohol. Not bad.

Draught at De Prael brewpub, Amsterdam. Cloudy orange, off-white foamy head. Strong alcoholic tones, boozy, yeasty, light orange zest. Firm body but no good flavours coming through, high carbonation, oily mouthfeel.

Nice but weak foam, some lacing. Amber colour. Very sweets aroma of fruits (plum, raisins maybe some banana). Very smooth, balanced, high drinkability, no alcohol, again a bit of fruits.

Bottle 330ml, clear orange with fast falling white head. Aroma of coriander, bananas, honey and alcohol. In taste medium sweetness with light bitterness and sourness. Very irritating extremly high carbonisation makes the beer in the begining very hard to drink. For sure not a barley wine like the lable says, but closer in taste to a home brewed Weizen.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2015 Bottle, 33cl. Pours orange with thin head of average retention but leaving nice lacing. Scents of cloves, coriander, sweet fruity wine, honey. Taste is built of dense malty sweetness, liqueur-like (guess that+high alcohol content is why they entitled it as "barley wine"), countered by very ligh bitterness. Lively carbonation but goes more flat after a while (which is good). Good body, oily and smooth. Alcohol is well hidden only very light warming feelings highlight its relatively high content. Works very fine for me, this barley winnish tripel.
