(Bottled, 0.5l) Hazy dark amber (muddy light brown with yeast) with a smallish, slightly lacy head. Sweet, toffee-grainy-malty aroma with dried fruit and quite evident alcohol. Strong strawberry fruitiness with yeast. Sweet and very grainy, moderately alcoholic (not in a bad way, though), and somewhat yeasty flavor. The same distinctive off-flavor of old fermented fruit as in the other Prael brews - only more bearable here, probably because of the high ABV. Medium-bodied, slicky and slightly syrupy palate with smooth carbonation. It seems, that De Prael has aimed for something like De Dolle Oerbier, and indeed succeeds in some areas (like the palate) - yet lacks in balance, flavors and aroma. Certainly the best one from this brewery so far, but still I’m not quite convinced.

Bottle @ home. Hazy orange pour, thin white head. Aroma is spicy, fruity and a bit dusty and yeasty. Flavor is slightly alcoholic, spicy and bitter. A bit sweet as well. Decent balance and thick body, but a bit off and boring.

Bottle. Aroma is sweet and fruity malts, some biscuit. Flavour is caramel and biscuit malt, some fruity notes. Strong but empty flavour.

330ml bottle. Ester, fruit and herbal aromas. Pous golden, hazy, with a nice white head, some persistance and lacework. Medium body and average carbonation. Tastes malty, bitter, soft fruit. Aftertaste is medium. Too much sediment on this one. Nothing remarkable.

Draft at De Prael. Cloudy orang pour with small white head. Sweet aroma with light fruit. Flavour like a sweet average tripple. Pretty high carbonation and a bit thin for the style/ABV.

Hazy orange colour, dissipating off-white head. Malty sweet aroma, honey mellon, peach, bread and light orange. Flavour quite sweet, malts, light hops. Light bitter finish, quite short.

Malty sweet aroma. Copper in color with a solid white head. Thin for the style but sweet...hints at fruit with a quick finish. Very light for its abv.

Bottle: Small and quick disappearing off white head on topof a hazy orange colored beer. Smell sweets like orange, tangerine and bread. Taste yeast, fruit, orange, peach, brinta, medium bitter, some older malts, hint of hops and floral. Aftertaste is low bitter with some herbs and hops. Medium carbo, soft creamy mouthfeel, good medium to full body and a creamy texture.

aroma: floral, caramel, bread, nuts, apparenza: amber, clear, minimal head, gusto: heavy cloying sweetness, lightly bitter, palato: light body, average carbonation, long finish, la migliore delle deprael,senza dubbio(anche perchè legata a bei ricordi). Non smetterei mai di berla,è davvero fantastica.

nice long aftertaste to this hazy golden barleywine. Comes more off like a tripel than anything else. Nice beer, just not remarkable.
