Poured a murky medium brown with a frothy light tan head and some broken lace. The aroma is sweet malt marzipan, liqourice. The flavour is moderate sweet rich alcoholic liqourice bitter, light aniseed palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

De Parel speaks of a bock with character, and yes, they are absolutely right. It’s just that I don’t know if I like this character. Having a character is not a definition of something good in itself. And here, I have a beer that is some sort of schitzophrene... On the one side, a full Bock with a incredible coffee taste and a dry hop side kick - but on the other hand is a sour character that doesn’t fit. Not here, not for a Bock. Would be a good one if there was a ’Sour Bock’ style. Or maybe this is the founder of a new breed ;-)

Chocoladebruine kleur met een volle lichtbruine kraag. Ruikt fruitig, zoetig, vanille, chocolade. Smaakt fruitig, tikkeltje zoetig, tikkeltje bitter.

33cl bottle Appearance: Hazy deep red pour with thin off white foamy head of finger, which leaves minimal lacing. Aroma:: Caramel Toasted malts. Taste: Tart Cherries, toasted malts, caramel, chocolate. Starts tart but the atertaste is a hocolate bitterness. A bit odd Odd one and I really don’t like the tastes how it clashes

Aroma een licht rokertje, ingehouden zoet als Bock. Smaak is gebroken zoet als kaneel met vanille ijs en karamel met gebrande noten. Kraag plakkerig op roebel bruinrood. Tap @ Bierpreuvenement Horst 2013

Decent doppelbock, with the taste of a ’normal’ bock. Bit spicy and malty.

Bottle at De Spuyt. Hazy deep red pour with thin off white foam. Aroma of tart cherries, berries, light toasted malt, anise. Taste is tart, light roasty notes, acid dark malts, tart cherries. Palate is thin, a bit acid, watery, with medium carbonation. Not bad, but definitely a strange acidic/fruity concoction. Hmm.
