Clear medium to dark red amber color with a large, frothy, good - excellent, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, smoke - peat, light to moderate yeasty, nutty notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20081117]

A very dark red beer with a light brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of yeast. The flavor is acidic, malty, rather sweet, and very yeasty. The mouthfeel is watery. A typical Dutch microbrew.

(Bottle 50 cl) Reddish brown and hazy with a beige, collapsing head and a huge sediment. Very malt accentuated - no less than six different malts! Good solid body with a dry, hoppy finish. 200205

50 cL bottle. Pours unclear and brown with a slowly collapsing light tan head. Mild spiced and slight off aroma. Flavour is dry to sweet malty. Light spiced. Mild estery and fruity. Smooth fruity and caramel malty finish.

Bottled. Hazy brown colour, huge brown head. Aroma is dark berries, some fruits, yeast and slight alcohol. Flavour is pretty much the same, some nice fruits and yeast. Aftertaste is slightly alcoholic and some yeasty with some earthy and fruity hints.

Draught De Prael Proeflokaal Hazy dark brown coloured with a small beige head. Sweet and fruity aroma of caramel, dried fruits and bread. Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel, dried fruits and bread with notes of liquorice. Sweet and bready finish.

Bottle, 7.7%. Very dark brown colour, seems hazy. Very big stable light brown head. Malty and roasted flavour. Good sweetness.

Clear mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma had roasted malt, caramel, hops and prunes. Flavour had roasted malt, caramel, dark fruits and hoppy notes. Finished somewhat dry and bitter. Not bad.

(330ml bottle) Pours a hazy amber body with a spare off-white head. Aroma of caramel, raisins, plum, and vinous. Flavor of roasted grain, caramel, toasted bread, and raisins.

Bottled (BB 09/2007). Muddy, hazy dark ruby, big creamy tan head. Yeast, crisp dark fruits, roasted malts in the nose. A bit thin mouthfeel for a dobbelbock. Dark sugars, chocolate in the flavor. Sugary aftertaste with hints of metal.
